If you could pay $10 to get this video 72 hour early, would you do it? Well, I hadn't made it by then, so I guess that's a moot point. Follow me on Twitter: / jackaveligames
You're totally right...I'm old enough to have seen completely free things being sold to the younger generations and it becoming the norm. I literally know people who spend the price of a full game like BG3 on "limited time" cosmetic items in some online game they're so invested in.
I think it's the first time I've seen the gamepass case mentioned and it never even occured to me that this in fact contradicts that specific selling point. (I canceled my gamepass subscription since I wasn't taking advantage of it that much) . Great video as usual.
Good video man, well spoken, and it's a topic that needs more discussion. It's another small bubble within gaming that's going to get bigger and bigger. Soon it will be a full week early access..smh
To me the positives of this, if there are any, is the people who want to make UA-cam content about said game can buy the early access, get the views to their channels etc. so it may as well be called influencer access.
Even though I kind of hated Starfield and I think Bethesda's quality has ultimately crumbled due to its growth over the years, I think the early access price of that game was fine given that it was basically a DLC preorder. I also played 25 hours on Steam and successfully got refunded after paying the Early Access price, which goes a long way toward me thinking it was ultimately fair.
forza horizon 5 2 year's ago did the same thing its called (options) forza motorsport early access gets you vip pass car pass and more.. theres dlc gamepass is day 1 RETAIL always has been. there's no lie said
I see where you're coming from, and most games they are banking on you buying it before you know anything about the game. I paid to get bg3 before memorial day and it was well worth 10 bucks to spend my holiday weekend playing what's become my favorite game of all time

Seems like an easy way to get some extra revenue, way better than loot boxes
it really doesnt feel like a video with 10 views
Thank you!
Early access is much much older than microtransactions btw

Thanks a ton! I think more people will be talking about this as more games start to pull it

25 hours and a full refund is a pretty good value!
