Should “Transgender Women” Be Allowed to Compete in Women’s Sports?

- Like many high school athletes, Chelsea Mitchell invested years of hard work and dedication in training to be a track star. But no amount of training could prepare her for a game-changing decision made in her home state of Connecticut-she would now have to compete against males.
The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference decided that males who identify as girls can compete in girls’ sports. In 2017, two biological male runners began dominating high school girls’ track-winning 15 championship titles over the next three years that were previously held by nine different girls.
The idea may have seemed equitable in the beginning, but the results have been anything but fair. Beliefs are one thing, but biology is another-athletics makes that perfectly clear.

They started off talking about restrooms, which seemed like the least threatening move for transwomen. Of course it was never meant to end there. Now we're supposed to let them into women's shelters and women's jails, too.

In treatment, sure their bone density and muscle mass is less but it is still higher than ciswoman,a transgender female will still have a bigger heart and more red blood cells. Trans female will still have 25% more muscle mass and bone density than a ciswoman . There body structures will not change either. If you want to transwomen to play with ciswoman than you have to basically undo puberty which is basically impossible.

I used to be into bodybuilding. I trained every day and was a solid 250 between 2013-2015. I stopped going to the gym and my Testosterone Score was 28 ng/dL between the beginning of 2016 through mid 2020. Despite not having a normal, minimal Test Score of 300 ng/dL and not working out for over 3 years, I retained over 60% of the muscle gained during those 2.5 years. Biological males have an advantage over biological females regardless of hormone treatment.
Do you know what hormone treatmeant does? Yk you transition with more than just E right? Yk theyre t score is significantly lower than youres and makes it increasingly harder to get to your level? Yk girls can also get incredibly strong and buff even more so than guys but its just hard? Yk theres research out there.

Setting the standard well beyond what a biological female is capable of is too much of an unfair advantage to be left as is. @@iminswagony5613 idk how to explain this to you but i’m going to try using what my english teacher once taught me about racism. i completely agree that biological women can be just as fast and strong as biological men. however, it’s not as easy. men are born naturally stronger and faster than women (it’s to do with the hormones and bones). if there was only one race with both biological men and women, yes it would be equal but it would be like men get a head start. it would be equal but not fair.

The trans women in women’s sports right now have only been on hormone therapy for a year and that’s why it’s unfair.
Though, on some sports trans women in your team shouldn’t be a worry (like figure skating and dance).

Instead everyone tries to squeeze them into spaces that are not conducive or feasible. Cis women usually take the brunt when it comes to athletics and having to compete against a MTF who has fully developed into adulthood with male anatomy (power/speed). It's oppressive toward cis women that, yet again, they don't have any space for themselves.Cis men don't have to worry about a FTM competing against them or winning all the trophies because most FTMs do not have the same strength or speed to out run them, where as MTF can out power and out run cis women nearly every time. People are not actually being considerate and inclusive of MTF people by squeezing them into cis women's spaces without giving the strength/power differences much thought. That is still using a traditional two-gendered model. It doesn't create space for other genders in society and is inconsiderate of both cis women and MTFs. It also perpetuates the inequality that cis women have faced for thousands of years. It's time for all women to take charge and everyone needs to rethink their idea of inclusion.

I’ve noticed that most videos and articles about Transathletes predominantly talk about Transwomen (male identifying as females) and how they blow out the women’s team. I am having a super hard time finding Transmen (female identifying as male) articles or videos beating and making new records in Men’s sport. Like literally 95% or all articles and videos is mainly transwomen beating women’s divisions.
That's literally explained in the video, men just have an unfair advantage against women, so a man becoming a female will always break the records of female competitions and whatnot; meanwhile females who become males don't break any record for the same exact reason: men are biologically "stronger" in all factors than women, and so there are no articles about biological women who compete with men because they've almost never won anything. Biological men should compete with biologcial men, and biological women should compete with biological women, end of question

I have no problem with a person being trans but I definitely have a problem with them being in a sport that they know they're going to dominate regardless if it's running or MMA because of their physical biological advantages, no amount of estrogen will ever be able to take away the raw strength and power a male possesses genetically so instead of pushing for them to be in female sports they should just be pushing to have their own category in sports; just like women have their own category and males have their own category they should have their own transgender category where they're competing and going against their own Point. If you are going to have gender-neutral sports or trans-sport, you're going to have men's sports. They're ALL going to be men. In track and field, swimming, lifting, basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, any physical sport.
If you allow cheetahs, of the top thousand runners, NONE will be humans

If you allow dolphins, NONE of the top thousand swimmers will be humans

If a biological male who went through puberty who has transitioned to a female takes estrogen hormone therapy for 2 or 3 yrs, does it undue the process of his bone density and twitch fiber muscles that were created thicker and stronger (the bones) and faster and more explsoive(the twitch fiber muscles)? The answer is no, yes testosterone plays a part in giving an advantage in aggression and consistent muscle growth and maintenance, but what alot of ppl dont know or really what the trans athlete community down plays, is that testosterone levels is not the key advantage, it is the size one bone structure after a biological male goes through puberty and their twitch fiber muscle size and capability that goes through a drasric change that is irreversible one going through puberty. LeBron james even after years of estrogen treatment will still have the same huge bone size and density that makes him 6 6 and his reaction speed and explosiveness of muscles to jump and respond will still be there. To state scientific facts about the permanent non reversible differences that biologically born males have over biologically born females is not transphobic its stating facts. If there was not a difference or advantage then they would allow the UFC Males to fight against the females.

@@aprilrae6551 I was a very blessed athlete growing up and practiced and trained with some girls in track and field and though some very competitive and skilled , there was a huge gap between the top ranked females vs boys. My daugther takes after me and looks like she's a natural born athlete how fair would be for her to train , have dreams and goals, work hard towards those goals only to compete in raises where she's basically handicapped. Thank Gid I live in Florida where our gov, passed a bill banning biological males from competing against biologically born females.

Or we could let trans women at a certain point in their transition play with cis women, as studies prove that at a certain point they have virtually no advantages over cis women other than skill, and we could make multiple, single-person gender-neutral washrooms and everything is solved.

@@Mroberto7.077 I think this is a very controversial topic and I haven't done enough research to pick on side over another (The should trans-women be allowed to compete in cis-wimans sports topic), however I can see both sides.
There is a common misconception that if someone is trans, specifically a trans women, all they do is grow out their hair and call it good. However, transitioning is much more complicated than that. They typically use puberty blockers or take estrogen, depending on age. This can suppress the unwanted testosterone, often also supressing the ”Biological strength men have over woman”.
At the same time, like the video mentioned, there are some structural aspects of the body such as increased bone density / increased lung capacity.
There is one problem with trans women competing with men which is *trans persons typically look like is people after transitioning*, and a women with boobs running with men may not look right.

Sexuality is intangible, you cant see it but you can feel it, like inspiration, love, etc. While gender is tangible, you can see, it is in your biology, the one underneath your pants. Falling in love with a woman does not mean you have to be male gender. Again, gender and sexuality are not the same. I am a woman who is attracted to feminine woman and I am also feminine, I love beautiful dresses, and elegant gesture. Again, I dont need to be a man or masculine to fall in love with feminine woman.
Again, Gender is fixed upon birth, it is in your biology, tatooed in your DNA. If you are man, you can act feminine, you dont need to undergo so much pain, like medicial surgery etc to act feminine. You dont need to be a girl to be feminine. Femininity is not exclusive for girls and vice versa. Masculine woman and feminine man are valid. As to sexuality, it does not hold any physical rule because in the first place our sexuality is govern by our emotion and desire.
No one can change gender at genetic chromosomal level. Man will always be a man and will always have two chromosones in their DNA while woman has only one.

I feel sorry for this and all other baby girls and young women out there who put their all (blood, sweat and tears) into their favorite sport and know they will NEVER win 1st place
Everyone sacrifices things in life. It’s not fair to a biological woman/girl to go up against a male body. A transgender may have to sacrifice doing what they want to do to be able to live as a trans just like I cannot ever be a runway model because I am 5’2. Is that considered body shaming or is it just that models are required to be very tall? I have no choice.
this one video fails to offer enough context and data to draw unbiased conclusion. theres a lot of variables and i think people are viewing children as grown adults when watching these things its like assuming that a 25 y/o male thats trained is competing against 16 y/o high school girls. not every school has a trans student, not every trans student wants to compete, not every trans student cares about awards, not every trans student has experienced typical hormones releases of their birth gender, not every cis girl has low testosterone levels, not everyone practices.
i was good at track in high school gym class, i dont think we had a track team but i learned to beat everyone in my gym class on track days- not same things but i worked hard and developed breathing techniques, i beat guys that had more testosterone, guys who were faster than i was initially, guys that could beat me in arm wrestling, etc.. also all the girls and many could have beat me in arm wrestling... i was probably a year or two behind other boys on testosterone so disadvantaged me kicked their butts

Well we know that Males(with hormones) have 3X the testosterone levels of females. And if they continue to train Trans women lose minimal muscle mass. They still have the same 20% advantage that all males have over females in sports. This is why sports are separated by Sex(Male/Female), not gender.

In year 10 (Sophomore for USA) me and 2 girls had a race in Physical education before the class started it was an indoor race and I won every time even after giving both of them a 10 second head start I still won…
I think allowing biological males to compete in a female league can partially undermine experiences that transgender people experience in their daily lives. I can definitely say that if I competed in girls track events in HS I would've easily won the state meets in my events by decent margins with the times I could run as a sophomore. I think allowing biological females to compete in a male league offers no distinct advantage but when the other way around with hundreds of thousands of scholarship dollars available to top athletes it can unfairly take opportunities away from others.
I did track in HS. I would've been up in arms if my competitors were transgender. Though Chelsie beat Terry in a race, Terry STILL bumped a bio girl to fourth place. They should be boys in the field, and then if they feel like dressing and "acting" like a girl, they can do this at the mall, at home, at a concert, at the movies, at the park, at a party, etc. But leave sports the way they should be: bio girls competing ONLY against bio girls.

When I was in college I was HUGE 6'8 330lbs offensive lineman. I ran a 5 flat 40 yard dash and I benched 425lbs ,squatted over 600. Let's say for the sake of discussion a girl wants to play football on the defensive line. Let's say she's 6'0 tall weights 250lbs and is a defensive end. She wouldn't stand a chance. Why are the two categories men and female? It should either be men and women or male and female (in this case men and women). Some people (transmen) are men who are biologically female and other people (transwomen) are women sho are biologically male. Because man and woman refer to gender and male and female refer to sex. Also you do realize that transwomen have to be on hormone blockers for at least a year before they join women's sports and are actually slower on average after the hormone blockers than cis women right? I am serious when I say that lowering the bar for people who would call this video transphobic, so that they can understand it’s message is essential as is so obvious that XX chromosomes must compete with XX chromosomes and XY with XY.
As someone who wishes to support trans people, I think that the trans community should put on transgender games for the athletes who have no place in women’s sporting events.
Joe Biden has disgraced himself regrettably with this order against women’s sport. I want to se this withdrawn immediately and I personally don’t acknowledge the victories of those two male sex athletes who disguised their way into your race. I wish them well in competing with fellow trans athletes, though hope you don’t have to contend with this ridiculousness for much longer.
@Kronos The Phoenix I’ve competed at national level in sailing - one of my friends is a two time Olympic medalist and world champion. With no training I was 15s of her record 2k rowing time on an erg machine.
I think you may be trolling me a bit, though I can’t really tell which worries me because obviously women can’t train beyond their biological limitations.
As more trans athletes come forward, there will be more competition for them. At the moment, they will just have to wait or compete with other XY chromosomes.
@Kronos The Phoenix you’ve just proved my point - they need to compete with other trans athletes and have no place in women’s sport. They don’t lose bone density and they retain a strength advantage - no matter how small, it doesn’t constitute a level playing field.

Unexceptional male athletes are achieving exceptional results in women’s sport because they are trans. This video itself which we are both commenting on should make this clear.
@Kronos The Phoenix bidens ruling has no bearing on looks - all that must happen is for someone to identify as female and have a testosterone count less than 10 ppm for a year before competing - 90%of Olympic female athletes have 3ppm in their blood. Biden does not require surgery, only a person feel and then have hormone replacement therapy. Laurel Hubbard was a male weightlifter competing in men’s competitions until only 4 years ago. It is clear that little physically has changed and she would have been competing and no doubt winning gold at the Olympics in Tokyo last year, had Covid not happened... this is just not fair, moral whatever and feelings cannot be the prevailing context for what is right.
Facts and logic show what is right and feelings are a nice to have.
This trans nonsense where trans athletes threaten people saying that competing as a woman is essential for their wellbeing is totally unacceptable.
If it truly is the case - these trans people are unwell and need help. What would earn respect in my eyes is them standing up and renouncing all records and monies and accolades to the female competitors they beat and then standing up for trans people to create trans athletics.
True they are a minority, though I am sure they will be joined by others as the stigma around being trans becomes less pernicious. Their time is now, but they must not take it from women - which they just are not... that’s just the end of it.
I am pro trans people, I am skeptical about how healthy it is, and I will support people’s journeys in discovering whether it works for them. But no they cannot compete with women who were born as such.

Biden can’t police whether someone looks female or not... lung capacity, bone density, blood count, vision, the lack of periods and menopause don’t go away when you transition to a woman - this is scientifically proven and these advantages cannot be eradicated...

Its hard to explain that no matter how much you hate your body, how hard and long you wish you had been born the opposite sex. It cant happen, and no ammount of training wishing or medicine will every change that.
The feeling that on top of that your friends loved ones and society might not give you the basic courtesy of accepting you for you ARE inside cause theyre too busy staring between your legs.

With all due respect to coach Seth Houston he said this isn't about Lia, but I have to disagree. Lia knows darn well not only that she has an advantage over the other female swimmers, but also that changing in the girls locker room with all the other female athletes is immoral and wrong. The ruling should be "in regards to woman sports" you may compete in woman sports only if you were born as a female period. This will rule out all the grey areas. What they should do is create a whole new class of sports that is exclusive to the trans individuals. Going forward it would be men's sports, woman's sports and trans sports. This way there will be no bias, and no more debate.
