- I've always known that the stalk of a corn plant tastes reasonably sweet and have always wanted to extract the sugar from them, so that's what I did in this video.
The result is a sort of treacle, which when mixed with refined sugar becomes a quite tasty and fragrant addition to things such as cereal.
I was actually very surprised how sweet corn sprouts are. If you have corn you can get a very sweet kernel that is softened simply by soaking it in water and allowing it to sprout.
Haha! Great video and I like the humor! Keep doing videos!
Wow. I had no idea. Thanks!
Glad you learned something new!
Ha! What an interesting take on it! Go figure! I just experimented with Corn Cob Syrup. I Reduced boiling water of 60 cobs at once, until i had about 10 cups left. Then i strained into dutch oven sized pot. Then i brought back to boil, until it Reduced by half, again. Then i bottled. Ended with 3 pints. Mine is watery, but golden and lots of corn taste. Now you show me, the stalks are useable???? Ahaha Challenge accepted! *grin*
if i were you, i would keep reducing it down to a thick molasses consistency. sounds great either way
Today I learned Corn stalks are similar to Cane stalks. :D
"and I'm a fraud"....got me there guy, thumbs up.😄
