I see it as Shirley was taken aback by Elizabeth's insistence and harping on a topic that Shirley rather not discuss on TV. Elizabeth could have changed the subject, but she went on and on......that's insensitive!
i love Shirley MacLaine and i love her book!.
i also believe in aliens etc!.
I saw MacLaine on the View yesterday and I think she was really rude to Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Maclaine didn't understand what Hasselbeck was talking about and I feel that Maclaine was rude. I don't agree with Elizabeth but there's no reason to be rude.
Sorry-I was responding to a comment made about Elizabeth when Shirley was on THE VIEW -Jul 22,08.
Shirley was there to discuss her new book. She certainly has the right not to discuss certain topics but I don't feel that Elizabeth was being rude to her. She sounded ernest in asking her question. Shirley could have chosen her words better. Her tone was dismissive. And in this insistance I feel that Elizabeth was the wronged party.
She is age-ing quite well. She's still smart and reasonably attractive.
I wish I had her money and influence.
Interesting lady nevertheless.
There is no excuse for Elizabeth's provocative and aggravating behavior. She needs to grow up, and wasn't she ever taught to show some respect to her elders? There is nothing earnest in making people uncomfortable just to prove your point. Shirley wasn't naughty, just able to see though the foolishness and BS that was being rubbed in. I guess the funny part was Shirley drug it to the absurd. Then everyone shut up.

I am not an absolute fan, but over the years I have found her comments have left me with food for thought.
Goodness everyone has the right to have their beliefs....and you have the right to choose if you want to listen....and in this modern age it is just a click...there really is no need to be rude!
In my view Shirley was rude.
