Just did elephant hill 1st time today... I'm incredibly impressed with your recovery after seeing first hand how challenging this trail is! You guys are awesome 😮
Rory on letting the customer drive: “It may be more work for me to let the customer drive, but it helps him learn. So he will get deeper into trouble the next time, and need more difficult rescues. Win, win.”
As a long time subscriber in my opinion when it comes to trails Rory is one of the best he can handle any situation to any trail by adapting and making it work to get the job done
Thanks Rory, Mike and Shawn for the recovery! Hot dog stand! Back next week to pick up Thing 1 from Parriott’s garage. Rear passenger axle shaft was a clean break and rear air locker failed. Thanks for keeping the pucker factor down a few notches!
I love how you teach while giving them experience doing it. You do it in a good way so they are encouraged and learn without even knowing theyre being taught. Guiding, rather than just telling. You do it well. Also that guy might have a heart attack when he watches this and sees how close he was to the edge. Luckily he had good trust in you and listened and followed immediately. Took me awhile to start breathing again after that. Lol. Those trails are no joke!
I am pretty sure that Moab must be where they filmed the Roadrunner cartoons. I think you should be careful if you come across a pile of "FREE BIRD SEED" Thank you for sharing.
I like the "let the customer learn" ideal. He's paying for the recovery AND the experience you can't get by watching. He will be proud of his excursion rather than regret the expense.
I like the idea that you let the vehicle owner drive out. You made a very valid point that it would be a good lesson and may help in the future. Some people just don't understand. It's not as easy as it looks. Sometimes. Another great video! Thanks guys! Happy thanksgiving!
Rory its awesome that you have the patience to teach willing customers during a recovery. I see the liability but the knowledge and experience is far greater. Great Recovery 🤘🏻🇺🇸 -Navy Veteran
Shawn was not kidding about Rory's long drive back to the shop. That has to be a two hour drive in an open vehicle when it's none too warm. That's a good boss who let's his employees have the warm truck to drive.
Beautiful scenery! Thank you for showing us all that while we also get our fix of rock crawling, horsepower, growling engines, your humor, saving people and their rigs, taking care of the land, and shenanigans. That tight squeeze reminds me of a trip to England where one of the alleys our English family took us down was just a couple inches wider on either side than the minivan we were in. The proximity alarms were jangling the whole time. They didnt make roads very wide in the 17th century. Lol.
I would have thought that after all the Trail Mater videos I've watched that I'd be bored with the scenery, the banter, the challenges of rescues, the gratuitous tom-foolery alone the way, but, you know what, none of that ever gets old?!!!
Based on your suggestion, re the 10ft. green Yankum rope, ( weeks back), I picked one up, thanks. In Sept., atop EH, we waited for 2.5 hours, for 3 stock trucks to get up; we pulled 2 up the steep pitch with a rope. The second truck driver told us, the night before they spent 4.5 hours getting three vehicles through the right angle atop SOB hill & camped in the dark on the road above that. You do a remarkable job getting vehicles out that 'tricky' terrain & you show the beauty of the country too. The LR driver has to very grateful for your aid & assistance.
That shorter rope does really work well. Of course, the talent of the driver and mechanic that created those amazing vehicles does make a huge difference. Great job as usual!
I'm only 16 but I have been wheeling with my dad since I was born in his yjs and I love wheelin and this channel helps me with recoverys and being safe when doing them 🤘
I'm a subber from Scotland. I'm a land rover fan. I saw the title and got excited to see the 1st landy recovery in a long time (possibly ever because I've gone back in your videos and didn't see any). I just wish we could get the big V8s you guys have although our fuel prices would require a mortgage to run them.
Hello from another Land Rover fan in Devon, I was excited to see the first Land Rover on the channel too! I have a 90 with a 6.2 LS3 which is considerably better on fuel than a rover v8. Gentle cruising it almost matches the old 200tdi for mpg.
I'm an American that lives right down from the Rubicon trail, been driving Land Rovers since the 1980's as my daily drivers / wheeling rigs, started swapping Chevys into them in the early 1990's Yes, the Chevys get better fuel economy by far than the old 4 cylinders, sixes and that fragile Buick alloy V8. And yes, they can sometimes beat the 200 / 300 Tdi . I drive an LS swapped 1958 series I daily. @@AlexLR
Hello from another US based rover fan. He has had a few other rovers, though never as the main recovery in a video, usually a secondary one. I currently have a project rover with a rover V8 under the hood and i do sort of wish for the 300tdi from one across the pond.
@@timmcooper294 Are you willing to tell us more about your LS series 1? What transmission, transfer, axles are in it? If they're original axles, how many have you broken? I've broken 2 rear axles in my old series 2A so I know they wouldn't be happy with an LS behind them. Cheers.
Even though the Land Rover engines are smaller capacity they still have an inordinate thirst for gasoline with a corresponding lack of power. I had for many years a Range Rover classic, 11-13 mpg was the best fuel consumption I ever got on a good day, terrible but a nice car when it was working right.
Got to admire the Discovery 1 for getting there in the first place. Bloody capable rigs all in all. Ok it broke, but let's face it Jeeps break parts too.
yeah, looks pretty clean. I never should have sold my disco II, what a nice, do anything rig that was. Except for almost certain damage from a little overheating. I'm an oz of prevention guy....it never let me down.
They're very capable vehicles, I'm not at all surprised it made it out there. Too bad it broke, but that'll happen to any vehicle that gets off-roaded. As can be seen on this channel where 90% of what they drag out are Toyotas.
Happy Thanksgiving to the amazing Trail Mater recovery crew! I'm thankful that in this day in age we have someone to call as awsome as Rory, Shaun, and Mike. Thanks guys keep up the great work!
ok Rory when do We get to see Ol'Blue with the New Alcan Springs & New Shock package because the New paint job by Howling Wolf killed it, just need to see the hole package with a walk around
Good to see an old Disco' from Solihull near Birmingham, my old hometown, doing off-road things, not just towing a caravan or doing the school run, even if it had broken.
I was excited to hear Allen was going to install the Yankum winch rope on the Apex winch. Next screen it's all done and I was disappointed 😞. I have the Yankum winch line and the Apex winch and would like to see how he did it. Is there a video from either of you that can show that process? That would be extremely helpful. Thank you.
Rory you changed as a recovery UA-camr but for the good. You went from getting angry with people to wanting to teach them instead and lot more patience. I dig it man. Cool for you
Rory, when you’re talking about taking a narrower rig through the squeeze THAT Is a very good reason for NOT having an absurd amount of wheel spacers on a rig. Plus those ridiculous big spacers tend to cause a large amount of undue wear and tear on wheel bearings amongst other components. Excellent job in doing what you do!
I'm from the UK and the discovery is a very capable off road vehicle but you need to look after it and strengthen a few things but I think that customer needs to tighten up the winch to start. Great recovery guys
Awesome video Rory! Its a great idea to have the customer drive their vehicle if capable, it is a great learning experience. The video felt weird without the bloopers though.
I really hope that there is a giant transmission oil cooler in that Jeep! Pulling that LR up those rocks, even with the customer helping, the transmission fluid gets pretty hot! I liked how Rory said that this was not a very technical recovery, but it sure looked like it while navigating those trails!
Great recovery Team TrailMater 👍 Shawn had it easy today. I think he went one handed the whole thing 😅 Well Done Mike capturing the entire ride in and out of the beast 👏 Thanks for sharing with us.
Good morning Rory I think letting the customer drive there own vehicle so they can learn since they will be driving trails is a good idea it also will make it a more enjoyable time when you learn from one of the best
TEAM TM proving once again they are so awesome. Sharing their knowledge is standard practice for these guys and we can all appreciate! Thanks for sharing another day out in your office helping a fellow offroader!
Land Rovers need help……period. They have so much potential, if they were built as good as they looked everyone would want one. I had two range rover 1st gen classics and they could go anywhere but were terribly under powered, and very fiddly. I was never let down but i knew a lot about how to keep them going. Great show guys….happy thanksgiving! 👍👍
Your customers pretty darn good driver I’d say you did all right and I’ll tell you what I’m impressed with that range rover all right this is six in a row Jim from Kennerdell, Pennsylvania
Whoever is recording this does a nice job showing scenery. I mostly watch these channels because of the scenery.
Win, win.”

Rory's experience and knowledge of the trails in his area is what makes these types of recoveries go so smoothly. Props.
As a long time subscriber in my opinion when it comes to trails Rory is one of the best he can handle any situation to any trail by adapting and making it work to get the job done
Brilliant. And nice interaction with the customer. Spelling it out for him in a pleasant way. Nicely done
Rory is the best driver on the UA-cam, just my opinion. ALWAYS impressed with his abilities!
I love how you teach while giving them experience doing it. You do it in a good way so they are encouraged and learn without even knowing theyre being taught. Guiding, rather than just telling. You do it well.

Rorys Channel is hands down the best. : ) nothing surprises him , he always seems ready for whatever happens
Good explanation on why you have the owners drive their vehicles. Although you almost got ran over in the recovery last week
Rory its awesome that you have the patience to teach willing customers during a recovery. I see the liability but the knowledge and experience is far greater. Great Recovery 🤘🏻🇺🇸

Ambient Noise Lovely. Strength! GODsp33d!
It’s not always about the recoveries I love the beautiful scenes getting out there and back!

nothing but blue skys is all I see !! ty again for the content rory and team
Well done ( again ) Rory. You're whole crew and fleet are 100% dialed in!!!
Mike's "scenic views" in this one was great!
Always good to see the seasoned and experienced Trail Mater team doing recoveries, amid some really beautiful scenery.
not to mention the savage sound of the scrambler at low rpm
The three of you are quite the team
itz pretty bad when ya watch so many mater vids that you recognize individual turns, hills, and rocks.....
🤣🤣🤣🤣😉😎🌴🌵🌲🇺🇸☯️♾
😂 and know which exact spot Rory will put his tires
That shorter rope does really work well. Of course, the talent of the driver and mechanic that created those amazing vehicles does make a huge difference. Great job as usual!
Nice having a little help from the casualty. Nice work getting it back on the trailer. The scenery always is impressive.
Reminds me I need to get my 96 Disco on the road again
I seen Allen in the video and thought “ Fantastic we get to see a rollover”. Man other than watching Rory and crew I left somewhat disappointed. 😂🤣😂
Rory, there is no doubt you and your team are the best at testing out equipment for comparison and reliability
That was a whole bunch of "NECESSARY" front digs!!! Once again, great job, guys!!!🤙
I love the way you try to teach not only your viewers, but also the customers.
Great job on the recovery and good to see Alan at the shop "helping out" .
Great recovery,thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
Filming on this one with the extra bits of scenery was excellent! Great job all around.
Beautiful scenery. Nice views.

whenever timeout is needed a virtual trip out to the rock-pecker sanctuary will still the mind
4:07 it’s like you are driving through an enhanced CGI landscape. Beautiful❤
Nicely done guys. Those discoveries are usually a very capable vehicle, just not the same as a dedicated rock crawler. Thanks guys.
Land Rover...maybe ...a man's gotta know the limitations ...great recovery Trail Mater team. Can't say it enough...awesome scenery.

Damn boyzzzz, you made that look easy and I know it wasn't. Nice work fellas!
You did a great job of showing us SCENERY too !!
What a beautiful area.. thanks for the ride..

I think it's time to find some vacation days this year to get down there again ASAP! 👍
AWESOME!
Always like your " take on it " things Rory. A man who understands situations. Bushyboy Oz.
this has been my most favorite recovery video I have seen form you guys. That was Just Flat out Awesome.
Great job as usual everyone great filming thanks for taking us along
Moab could be another planet. Very beautiful.
old blue looks great I like the green

The Land Rover Reputation is well earned and accurate 😢😱👏👏👏👏👏 ..
Jolly good ol'chap 👍did you get hot tea and a cookie 🤤at 4:00 ?? ✌️❤️
You all are quite patient with the customers while instructing them how to control and maneuver their vehicles.

Hi guys!!! I say it all the time. But man does that scrambler sound soooo goooood!!!
Welcome to the Trail Mater Off Road Driving School. Can I assume that the Land Rover did not have a diff lock? Excellent work as always Gents.
