PENDENNIS CASTLE returns to steam

The latest chapter in the colourful life of GWR Castle 4-6-0 4079 came to pass in April 2022 with its return to steam at the Didcot Railway Centre, home of the Great Western Society. In April 2023 the locomotive made its first ever visit to a UK heritage railway during the Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala.
The film shows 4079 at home at Didcot in June 2022, visited by a Castle hauled railtour in March 2023 (7029 and 5043) for the Class centenary celebrations and then hauling trains through the Severn Valley during April

The single chimney Castle, teamed with the Collett tender was the mist beautiful and perfectly proportioned of all steam locomotives. The GWR livery helped too and, Oh yes, they performed well too ! Well done Mr Collett and team for a job well done.
