She brought reformative justice to Chicago. She implemented diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and she helped the schools create critical race theory and lgbt curriculum. Oh, and she was the first gay black female mayor. So she checked all the social justice boxes and to the Democrats, that's what she did right.

To be fair, Lightfoot has had a tough workload for the past four years. Being mayor of a major city at the same time as being casting director at Disney would be hard for anyone to manage.
First, she ran for Chicago Mayor and won. Having no management skills and poor inter-personal skills she started a series of events that led to chaos in the city government. Then she started appointing her supporters into jobs they knew nothing about. And from there everything went downhill.

News of Lightfoot losing was quite refreshing for a change.

I don’t even recognize the city any more.
