I didn’t even know there were plugs for the holes. 😒 I was gifted an open-holed B foot flute when I was only a year into learning to play the flute. My band teacher at school was awesome and helped me greatly while I was adjusting to playing the open-holed flute. Shout out to Mr. Duffy from Oregon who may have been a trumpeter but knew his stuff! 🥰
I am a long time dizi player and just got myself a concert flute. prior to getting the flute I was surprised about this whole open and close thing but I went with the open key coz I am used to sliding the notes. am glad I went with the open coz it's more assuring to feel the hole under the finger. so far it's been quite fun. a little different from the dizi but much easier to control. liking it a lot.
At 4:35 you mentioned how some flutes have a lip and pushing the plug all the way through can actually break the key. Is there any way to figure out if my flute has that lip by just looking? I searched up my flute on Google but I can’t figure out if it has that lip or not
I would love to upgrade my flute to get a C# Trill key but don't think any come that aren't open hole. Based on what's comfortable for me, I know I would definitely have to keep a plug in the G key. I
Hello Gina, thanks for making so informative videos about flute. It really helps us. Can you please make a review video of Yamaha ylf 472H? Planning to upgrade my flute to open hole & have narrowed the range to it, but can't find any review videos of it.
On shotguns for hunting many of us get the guns with that way cool looking rib that runs across the top. The manufacturer's have a palethara of reasons for it but the bottom line is it sells to folks like me that think it looks advanced and cool. My flute is not expensive at all but I thought the open hole looks advanced from a beginner flute and let's be frank I thought it looked cool. After seeing your presentation I'm thinking those white inserts look nice indeed. I swear to high heaven I can't find mine now.
Thanks for the info. So then, professional flutes, before this new concept cropped up, were no different from the modern day term " student flutes", with the exception of the b-foot joint?????????

That’s totally ok! I actually have 2 plugs in my flute (on both ring fingers!)

Hello, can you make an ocarina tutorial for the legend of zelda theme? Or the Kokiri forest theme?
I can’t find any thing about my flute is there any way to tell just by looking at it to tell if they have a lip?
I ended up putting the G and D keys plugs back in due to arthritis.
