- The best ever car chase involving the classic 1963 Volvo P1800 driven by Roger Moore through London in "The Saint" 1963 TV Series "Rough Diamonds". Of course the bad guys are driving a Ford Zephyr. Some classic old cars parked along the route too.
BTW - There isn't a second part to this chase - the girl gets out of the Saint's Volvo, walks back , Zephyr pulls up and the bad guys talk to her (yes, she's one of them), and they do a U-turn.
The Saint is so cool, he uses the turn signal during a car chase.
Exactly!!👍
Muscle memory... :D
You have to obey the law! You don't want to get a ticket! lol
This episode was directed by Peter Yates who later directing "Bullitt".
Roger Moore liked the Volvo so much he bought one for himself off screen.
Love that model volvo
I have longed for that car since I was a kid. I still want it. One of the most beautiful cars ever made. Just wish it had a bigger engine.
One of the best films pursuits. Where I can find this music?
LOVE THAT CAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very nice!!!!
Interesting to see the old British cars on the sidelines here. At around 1:03 you can see a DB4 parked on the corner.
Thanks for this contribution, _GiftsByTheGreen_. Most of the time, this series was excessively studio-bound, so it's nice to see them get out of Elstree and do a bit of location work, in what was actually quite a decently directed car chase. The only disappointment was the choice of pursuit car, a base-model Zephyr 4, when a nice top-of-the-range Zodiac would have made it a fairer race. I seem to recall that in action series back in the sixties/seventies, a Jaguar saloon was the bad boy's transport of choice.
Remember back then Sweden stil drove on the correct side of the road, so the steering wheel was on the correct of the car by default.
A Zephyr 4 wheezing. Couldn't catch its own shadows
ROGER MOORE MY ALL TIME FAVORITE
Those were the days of wine and roses
Love that car
Still looking good!!
Such a COOL car =))
this was the early bullitt car chase
I bet they just turned up and filmed that on spec.No health & safety..no planning.Just roll,em.
Yep they had no time for that health and safety bull ..they had 26/30 episodes to make- these days they do 7 episodes of Dr Who a year if your lucky and ' the crew & actors are exhausted ' and need a rest .
Since Roger Moore could be the James Bond, Roger Moore seems like Sean Connery's voice.
A car chase..... in central London?Myst have been Sunday traffic and long before the congestion charges were introduced to capitalize on the congestion.
I like the bike at 0:53!
Minute 0:57 my 2 cars together ..... the P1800 and the Renault Floride
Those skinny tires. :)
...and notice at 1.33 another 1800 parked behind the mini to the right of the screen. I wouldn't want to try to steer an 1800 that tightly at speed, but perhaps my steering isn't as good now as it would have been when the car was new in 1966!!
Did I miss something? What car chase??
They must have been hitting speeds of 30 or even 40mph! lol
It wasn't exactly 'Bullitt', was it? They were using their turn signals during the "chase"! lol
Really? Speed X1.5 or x2.0
My father is rather convinced that the saint's car at some point was red, but I cannot find any pictures to confirm this. Does anyone here know for sure?
Nope, it was always white. As white as his halo.👍
@@ketchup5344Thanks, man :)
@@TheMindProjection in the re-make of the Saint, the Val Kilmer film, his car is a red Volvo C70. But in the original series with Roger Moore, it was always white.
The first one plain white, and the second (S) one pearl white or maybe california white, I believe...
classic
the best ever ????????????????
Right up there with 'Bullitt' and 'The Seven-Ups'! lol
Forza horizon 3 brought me here
When they're on location in France, they show all of the actors driving Citroens. God, but those cars are ugly. In Italy, I bet they drive Fiats. Those are cute cars.
