Wind Noise Test - AnkerWork M650 Wireless Mic

A tame wind noise test of the M650 wireless mic. I'm comparing to the audio I would get directly from the Insta360 X3 attached to my bike. I'm also recording these clips on the mics themselves to check the 'lossless' (non-transmitted) capability of the mics.

No, this is not a test of me jumping from a plane or off a cliff because I live a fairly normal life and don't do those things. I just wanted to know how well the mics would cope with a 20mph ride on a road. You know, real life stuff.
The results are excellent. I'm blown away by both the consistency, quality and wind noise rejection that the basic covers on the M650 mics provided. Both Miles and I were wearing mics but it all blends together very nicely.

Biggest issue with my M650 is when using both microphones and internal storage, files vary in size to each other and are about 1/2 second out of alignment. I’m running their latest beta firmware which was meant to fix it.. it didn’t.

I’ll have to test that. It’s not something I’ve noticed though I have had a situation where one of the mics clearly showed as recording but just wasn’t and I lost 50% of a conversation. ☹️

@@tdcattech we had that too. The latest firmware (excluding this beta) fixed that. I complained to Anker and we got a $40 refund as an apology as we lost half an out and about episode.

After the device was delivered yesterday, the enthusiasm is completely gone today. After the firmware update (recommended in the description), the device can no longer be started. And I urgently need it for a production tomorrow.

That is rotten luck 😕. So it doesn’t start with the power button or automatically when the case is opened? Let’s be honest, I don’t think Anker are ever going to be the Sennheiser or Lectrosonics of this world. I’m not sure they’ll even become RØDE.

The transmitter is magnetically attached. No chance of that coming off.
