    Cool to see that Ricky still plays that Thinline Five string. When I was in junior high, I got this issue of the Fender Frontline and he was photographed with that bass and I was going "That's just the coolest bass I ever saw!"
    So it's cool to know that he still uses that one.

    So many great bands and musicians came out of my home state of Illinois. Styx, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, and my home town hero, Steve Hunter from Decatur. Home of the original Chicago Bears, the Decatur Staleys .

    Love hotrodded strats. Charvel San Dimas (slime green) is my next. I got me a shell pink one now...but it's,a Dinky. Gotoh10 - not Floyd. Its fantastic... but I want a dedicated shredder..and to me, the San Dimas is where its at.
    But really,any fat Strat with an FR has got my attention. Even Squier has got a sweet one out now - and a carved heel joint, too!
    Mexican Player has one too.
    I love these Stix ones tho, especially, cos I just dig white pearloid guard on a metallic paint finish. Itse just the most glorious combination for me...
    HSS...Purple metallic... FR..carved heel...sustaniac...perfection!

  • @lueymeteora1410
    @lueymeteora1410 3 роки тому

    Best Strat I've ever seen! 3:05 ( 5:17 is equally epic)
    I love a Floyd on a Strat..with HB in the bridge...maybe a sustainiac in the neck...it's circa late 70's/80's vintage Rock'n'roll!.
    The sparkle purple finish is just ...the 2nd coming! Matching head and birdseye maple, roasted! ..no less... Tele knobs...Crisp white pearloid guard...
    My only criticism, as always, to bring it up to perfect....is SCULPT THE HEEL JOINT!
    It's not hard. Copy off any number of other guitar builders! Ibanez, Charvel, ESP...
    But anyway, great "Built up" Superstrat!🤘

    can anybody tell me what's the name of that sort of strings guide bar at the headstock before the locking nut on the blue strat? I've installed a locking nut and a microtuning stoptail on my DIY LP and I might need this piece....the system works nicely but I feel I'm pushing the high strings too far down at the back of the nut after tuning to pitch and locking the nut cause the angle is different so I would like to alleviate that.
    thanks!

    • @loganhellinger5540
      @loganhellinger5540 9 років тому

      It is called a pig head string retainer bar. Judging by things online, they may only be sold with the locking nut, but don't quote me on that.

  • @billyrouse4813

    I play a passive 5-string bass myself, but I tune it down to A standard. I sometimes play worship music, and some are in Bb, thus the downtuned setup.

  • @fredmachine
    @fredmachine 10 років тому

    Dunno, sometimes music isn't really about improvising. Take Necrophagist or Obscura for example (especially Necrophagist), their songs are specifically written so there's not much room for improvisation (also, way too fast and dense to deviate from the sheet). It's just a matter of taste and style. I'm sure they could go on and improvise (I know Münzner could), but it just wouldn't fit with the music.

    • @gcf7175
      @gcf7175 8 років тому +8

      +TheRoblox Maverick (RobloxPLayEr) Thats awesome. All my Dad ever did was dress up like Elvis and get all wonky on booz and pills. He had this corny casio keyboard that he would play the demo song and move his hands over the keys like he was playing. He was so high he thought he was singing Unchained Melody. It was my job to mop the sweat from his brow then the bring the towels to my mom. My Mom was supposed to be keeping Dad's sweat towels because he said they were valuable collectables and one day they's be in a mueseum. My mom used throw the towels in the back yard for the dogs to play tug of war with and now my dad's in jail.

  • @fredmachine
    @fredmachine 10 років тому +1

    Yes, of course. But sometimes, once the song is done, it's done, and there's no room for adding ornaments and so on. Now you could go and improvise a whole lot more, but let's face it, Metal is not Jazz and Metal guitarists simply aren't trained for this.
