I agree... I cried so much watching this movie feeling it's about me. Young and lost people should just slow down, not follow the trend, go wherever they can be the relaxed, kinder, better version of themselves and focus on what they are good at and start with being a useful person to the few people around them...yes start small without being distracted.
Isao Takahata is an extremely underrated director, he is deeply missed in the industry, in many ways, Takahata was better at capturing the daily life and its beauty in animation than Miyazaki ever was.
Interesting point and I tend to agree. Miyazaki did create a lot more fantasy-like, out-of-this-world movies and scenes. They both are the greatest masters of what they do.

The hand drawn animations, the simple human stories, awesome BGM it all made studio Ghibli a legendary animation studio. This one in particular is my favorite ❤

Yep. Ya gotta get up at 4 in the morning to start prepping everything and work doesn't get done until late into the night. If there's even a drought or failed crops it could mean that you & your family won't be eating much for the entire winter season. And not to mention there's a constant odour of manure and blood (from harvesting the livestocks) so you better get used to all the stinky earthy smells.
Even though there's not too much action in this movie, I love it. To me it seems like a piece of art. The beauty of life is captured in it so well and whenever I watch it, I feel peace :')

Yesterday just resonates with me now than ever…being 27 currently with a stable job and getting used to adult things is fine and stuff, but I crave that simple life with the bounty I’m familiar with, ya know? Takahata-san’s universe feels so right and homely to me.

Someone described Takahada as "animating reality." I havent seen only yesterday, but his work on grave of the fireflies and kaguya really demonstrates the mans intimate underatanding with life, and the human experience. ❤

Just watched this anime 2023, personally I thought this anime was really boring at first… but as I continue watched it, I get to like it even more, as I saw Taeko try to deal with her inner child hurt, and try to move on, also the simple life of rural village in Japan just WOW 😊
