Rally influenced Vauxhall Nova Spin 2.0i gets its first proper run - 375 miles London to Duns!

- Once Driven Forever Smitten's Pete has had this Nova Spin project on the go for ages. With a move to Singapore for work on the cards, the race was on to get it finished and then get it into storage.
First up was getting it up to Berwickshire... next time round Pete and the Nova sign off in style with one of our famous Border road runs (well famous if you read Total Vauxhall 15 years ago!)....
Must be surreal doing a number of MPH at 3k in top, sat in a Nova Spin.

Just before I left home my brother had a nova gte, my step brother had an astra gte 16v, my other brother had a cav & calibra 2.0i, my dad had a senator 24v and step mother had a carlton A 2.0. No wonder I love Vauxhalls too.

I did have a MK2 Cavalier SRi (130 believe to be 100%) with 68k on the clock, and that actually had a 20SE. Kept the engine as the car died. (Rust 15 yes ago). Had a K cam and high comp SEH pistons. And ECU. So either a swap or original.

Awesome video man I had a nova gte about years ago an have regretted getting rid of it to this day but it’s hard to find a good one these days 🤘🏻
I did the same with a caverlia sri 20 16v redtop I had to sell to buy a van for plasterering I regret it every day😔😠🤣👍

I agree with driving poverty spec cars. There's less to distract you from the driving experience so you feel more involved. I like it. Great feeling of Novastalgia seeing that interior and I remember the smell.
Has it still got the 4 speed box in it?
Looks like several people were Novataken on the way up the road too
It did originally have the 4-speed, we had to cut the notch out to make it 5-speed. Makes sitting in the outside lane a bit easier!
The poverty spec is actually ok, although no 12v socket might have to be changed!
I can install a 12 socket inside the glovebox if you want, to keep the poverty spec look.

edit: That ding on the rear quarter near the swage line can be pushed out easily by a decent bodywork guy, i know this because i did the roughly the same ding on my brothers nova.

Love channel though I prob shouldn't be here. My only Vauxhall experience was a mega miles Carlton 2.0 CDi in the '90's and my girfriends Viva before that. Time for another one maybe?
I don't think you need to own one to watch ODFS. It probably helps but not essential 🤠😂

Is that 20SE engine not 122bhp? If its from an astra GTE With the 20SEH having 130. Whats the differences for that extra 8bhp? Great video. I solid nova a rare sight.
Only difference is the exhaust apparently. Bit better on the Cavalier. I personally think Vauxhall were at it with the output listings they make no sense.
According to a post on migweb the 20se is from an omega a or a carlton with 123 bhp

I had a 2.0GL MK3 Cav, think it was about 115hp, could this be the engine in your Nova ?
That would be a 20NE or C20NE. All the 2.0i engines are great!
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten I had a J plate Cav SRi registered in 1992 back in the day that had a C20NE motor but no cat, as far as I'm aware it was the original engine.
I always thought the 20SE engine was from pre cat Cavaliers and Carltons?, My Astra GTE had a 20SER engine which was basically a SEH.
20NE. The SE/SEH/SER are all basically the same engine. Differences in ECU, exhaust and mounting I think.

Pete's taxing it again for me as I've to go get it and service it. Hoping to get Kenzo's Nova on road soon so we can do stuff with both of them

Superb i do love the 8 valve engines and the fact they have non interference valves .
not sure about that, i had the 1400 8 valve on a Belmont and when the belt broke it bent a valve...
change the "i" in spin to a middle finger :)
