BenQ has a history of very high image quality at an affordable price, and their products are usually reliable and last a long time. But XGIMI has a lot of cutting edge stuff being included in their projectors, also the smaller form factor means better portability and smaller footprint. Id like to see BenQ team up with the right software engineers to develop a more seamless smart projector user experience, and with an audio company versed in small speaker technology so they can fit more sound into a smaller form factor (e.g. JBL or Bose; XGIMI has already done this by pairing up with Harmon Kardon, and the results on many of their models is supposed to be impressive given the smaller size of their projectors). Personally I prefer the XGIMI because of how much it puts within such a small package, but if BenQ can start following their lead I really prefer the image quality of their projectors. If the GS50 could be a little smaller but still have good sound I might prefer it over the XGIMI.
Also, despite the Mogo Pro maybe sounding tinny, newer portable projectors by XGIMI should have better sound quality, probably because of having a slightly larger form factor and/or lack of internal battery, allowing for more space to play with acoustics and less need to underpower speakers to conserve battery life.
BenQ has an innovative design with their smaller GV30, and the soon to be released 1080p version GV31. The disc-like shape of the projector that allows for easily changing angles and vertical viewing without the need to buy separate stand or tripod, while keeping the speakers in the same orientation at all angles, brilliant. Even though the shape is a little strange as far as projectors go, it makes sense, makes the projector very easy to set up anywhere in a pinch which most people just looking for something easy to use and don't care so much about high fidelity audio will appreciate. And partly because the projector has a narrower profile and Q-shape, the projector protective window is small and recessed, therefore maybe a little less likely to be accidentally scratched or cracked. The window protecting the lens is a critically vulnerable place on projectors, in the future I hope manufacturers will provide some means of protection or an easy way to replace them in the event they become scratched or damaged. Personally I would opt for a smaller lens opening, a simple protective shutter, and include a glass, sapphire, or quartz window if that's not already being done.
A shape and size that emphasizes audio quality and bass seems to be the critical path if both good video and space-filling high fidelity audio quality are prioritized. It seems like good video can be put into almost any device shape and size, but with audio, shape and size are critical. Too small an enclosure and the sound will suffer, too large and the projector becomes less portable. Something like the Formovie V10, where a woofer or radiator faces the floor and becomes the controlling factor for the shape and circumference, and mid-/treble speakers that surround the circumference of the cabinet, seems like it would be a good design audio-wise. Plenty of base and the possibility of adding some dimension to sound by placing speakers all around its circumference. If the size was just a little smaller than the V10, and it could be powered by a USB power bank for outdoors use on occasion, that might be the best all-rounder (in a metaphorical and literal sense). Not too small that audio quality is compromised, not too large that it can't on rare occasion be easily packed along to use as a portable projector. The Mogo 2 Pro seems to be taking things in that direction with its passive radiator, but it seems like it should go in the bottom of the device facing downwards to help maximize woofer size and effect. And if the Size of the Mogo 2 could be just a little larger and have a brighter screen (i.e. be more like Halo+, just without the internal battery, and with a downward facing woofer/radiator), the audio and video could perhaps further be improved while the projector would still be somewhat portable (it may then require some larger power banks to use, but that's not the worst thing). As someone who values good audio and video quality in a smaller package, who would infrequently use a projector outside the house, that seems like a really great all-around design, a projector that can do it all fairly well indoors or out, can easily be moved around and taken anywhere, eliminating the need for multiple audio and video devices for various circumstances. Just one thing for everything, minimalism with quality.

I never understood why people liked the Mogo Pro. It's as if they never compared it with others. The battery mode is a lot less bright but even with power it lacked a lot of brightness (this is even compared to a Wowoto H8 which looked a lot more vibrant and superior). The H8 also appeared to have better resolution even though it was only 720p (the Mogo Pro was only pixelshifted to 1080p and in fact had a tiny DMD at 540p which meant it wouldn't actually look as sharp as bigger DMD pixelshifted ones even though they claim the same 1080p - the Xgimi Elfin for example is pixelshifted but almost looks the same as a real 1080p compared to the Mogo Pro which looks a lot worse)
At first the resolution looked even worse because I had set it at an angle. This meant the pixels were easily visible and the projector barely looked 540p. When aligned straight towards the projected surface the resolution looked better and the pixels were less visible, but still they are a lot larger than other real 1080p projectors.
The final nail in the coffin is I could never get the Mogo Pro not to severely crush blacks (as you alluded to in your review when you said it struggled in dark scenes). I tried many different units and they were all the same in this regard. Did anyone find a secret menu or setting that allowed proper rendering of dark colours?

ua-cam.com/video/g4mmiR6wprM/v-deo.html What I'm saying regarding the resolution is obvious here too. BTW I almost forgot to add that the poor contrast makes the picture seem very flat also (compared to the H8). It is also evident the black level is quite poor (not a good combo since it isn't bright as it is).

Colours look more vibrant on the XGIMI, but the BENQ looks more colour accurate and more details, for example when you played GTA, the car number plate was readable on the BENQ and not on XGIMI. Also BENQ dark scenes looked better and better sound. I’m picking BENQ. ❤ great video Chigz

will pick benq just the fact that they got lound sound good quality in dark scenes and splash proof so when i bring it to outdoors it would actually work

I have had the mogo pro for a while now, sound qualiy is not as important as I always hook them up to external speakers. If using for portabilty, you can get a decent bluetooth speaker too and still pay less than the BenQ.
