This was a FANTASTIC episode and I am so glad to have learned about Kristen. I will definitely get her book and read more about her story. I really loved the section about vulnerability in a leadership/workplace setting. YES! When I was in management, this was huge for me as well and it created a really strong, loyal team. It was also important to me to instill in my people the courage to make mistakes and to learn from them, so each week during our team huddle we would actually have time to go over what they failed at that week and what they learned. This sounds negative, but we made it into a really positive thing and people came each week eager to share what they actually failed out, what they learned, and to share with the rest of the team to help us become stronger together. It was really one of my favorite things about that job and that team. We would grow together all the time and we all felt comfortable making a mistake in front of each other. That's real trust right there.
I loved your work, Vanessa on practical psychology. UA-cam updated me on your recent upload and I was happy to find your new work. Love it! So many valuable skills, tips, educational lessons that can be applied to day to day life.
Treating your employees like they're a lot more than just a number and actually showing them that you sincerely appreciate who they are and what they bring to your company will make all the difference. That's the difference between getting employees who check in and out everyday and go through the motions and employees who will fight for your company.
Hey Vanessa. Knowing how you deal with people on a day to day basis (as every sane person does) I want to know how and could you please advise me a book on how to confront people when they are agressive or cross boundaries or get physical (in a mean way though :p) with you. I'm living in Rabat, the capital of Morocco and I searched for your book Captivate but I didn't find it. I'm going to get it delivered to me on Amazon, with the book that you will surely recommend. Thank youuu
Histo Logy sorry I'm not Vanessa lol but I thought this book could help it's amazing , it's both applicable in workplace and regular relationships "Making Conflict Work" by "Peter T.Coleman and Robert Ferguson"
