Hi Marta, Many thanks for this wonderful video. Your garden is gorgeous. Everything looks so beautiful and healthy. I live in Charlotte, NC, Zone 7B in the US. July through September has been brutal this year. Such high temperatures. We’re finally getting relief in October. The plants and I are both grateful! I love Spring and Fall in the garden🥰 Take care and happy growing!

Marta, do enjoy your videos. Here in UK it is also warm so I'm still waiting patiently before I move my peonies and start dividing. Thank you for your hint about low Nitrogen fertiliser in the Autumn.
You mention birch trees, and I have a massive one which sucks out all the goodness and moisture and creates a lot of shade. I have found Mahonia Soft Caress, and Sarcococca Confusa survive well and and now trying a Fatsia Japonica, but would like to include some perennials. Have you experience of dry shade and found something that works for you?

The weather is about like yours. I’m in the gulf coastal region in the southern U.S. The days are warm but nothing like the summertime was. It’s very cool at night so most of my plants are not struggling. One is and that is my Oak leaf hydrangea. It’s very big and probably 15 years old or older. It was beautiful this year until September came. It’s so wilted. It would take gallons of water to get it watered because the roots are so deep and it’s so big. My gardenia is also struggling. All the leaves are turning yellow and falling off. It may be from the drought and heatwave. I have never see this before. I do not want to lose it. I’m planting bulbs for the first time. Would you suggest a few that would be suitable for containers. I want to try alliums. They are so beautiful. I think I will need to order some online.
Another great video. There is so much to do in October.
    Thank you Marta. 🧡🤎💛🍂🍁

I noticed the Gaura plants, will you lift those out and take them indoors?

They overwinter really well. So no, I’ll leave them in the ground.

Regarding your fertilizer. Do you know what is the NPK is? I could find something similar here in Canada.

it is a multi-component mineral fertilizer containing nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K).Marta talks about autumn fertilizer, which should contain potassium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium and sulfur, but should have as little nitrogen as possible. Potassium affects the woodiness of shoots, which protects plants against frost. Phosphorus influences the development of the root system, making it more susceptible to frosts.
