The expression on Bridget's face when she tried the carrot juice was the funniest thing I've ever seen on ATK. 🤣🤣🤣 She looked like Lucy Ricardo taking Vitameatavegamin. 😂
Nama J2 is an excellent juicer and sorbet maker. Yes, quality juicers are expensive. However, I have had one of my juicers since 1980 and it still works well. I will purchase the Nama J2 as homemade fresh juice and sorbet are healthy and the Nama J2 is easy to clean.
FYI, I used to do a lot of juicing back in the 1970s. I have to say that cantaloupe and fresh ginger root make the most delicious juice I ever tasted. Sooooooo good.
I have a Breville juicer. I use it to make a ginger, turmeric, apple juice. It works very well. I also eat other foods with fiber so that’s not an issue for me. It’s an older juicer so when it dies I will be looking at a mastication juicer.
For anyone wondering: You can use a juicer on sugarcane, you're going to need one with a much more powerful motor; 800-ish Watts would just burn-out the motor faster. The 800W motor on the Jack LaLane Fusion Juicer 100 Year Anniversary Edition struggled a bit on sugarcane. Here's a list of the Breville juicers and their motor power: Juice Fountain Compact - 700W Juice Fountain Plus - 850W - ATK Reserved Recommendation Juice Fountain Cold - 850W - ATK Winner Juice Fountain Cold Plus - 1000W Juice Fountain Elite 1000W Juice Fountain Cold XL 1200W 3X Bluicer Pro - 1100W
Every time I think about getting a juicer, I reconsider because the thought of cleaning it out would make me never use it. I'll stick with my blender, and if I really need to remove the fiber, a strainer.
Still have and used my juiceman juicer, those who recalled this equipment knows; although it cannot macerate certain fruits and veggies well, also nuts. Everything else is so pricey and not affordable to low income households. So i used the blender to reblend the fibers of the fruits, as to waste not.
No budget pick? For $400 I'd rather use a good blender and add some water and/or ice to make smoothies. On top of that, more fiber in the drinks, and less counter/storage space required.
Let's be honest, you guys are behind the curve. The latest innovation is batch juicing... Think Nama J2, Hurom H400 or Kuvings Auto 10. That's where the market is right now. You guys are reviewing juicers that were state of the art 5+ years ago. Cleaning your juicer is an art. You put through a cup of water before cleaning. Then you scrub gently with an o cedar sponge.
Jeepers. I'd rather use a blender to make smoothies from veggies. For regular juicing of fruits, a hand juicer is under $20. The attachment for a KitchenAid mixer is a little more than that for a 3rd party item.
Juicing is good, but we should be eating our produce, you know, the way nature intended. Eat a variety of produce, eat slowly and save $$$$, not only for the price of a juicer but the amount of produce it takes to make a glass of juice 😎👍🥕
Technically, eating fruit and veg in the normal way is more beneficial for health than drinking the juice (even if the juice does contain fibre) - so juicers are for encouraging people who wouldn't eat the fruit and veg whole to at least get some nutritional benefit from them - or because juice is what you want. For me, I bought the juicing attachment for my Kenwood Chef years ago and used it about once. The chore of cleaning it far outweighed the benefits.
Expensive, choresom, hard to clean, and produces mounds of crappy juiceless pulp : *Juicing makes no sense to me.* Maybe a video about how to use the pre-masticated fruits and vegetables leftover from juicing.
You don’t have to discard. You can add the fiber to muffins, soups, other recipes. I know there’s debate on healthiness of juicing, but when I juiced (kale, apples, carrots, celery, lemon) I felt a zing and pep that gave me energy all day. It can be addicting.
Disappointing comparison. It does not explain, for instance, why masticating juicers are preferable over centrifugal juicers: They push less air into the juice and therefore cause less oxidation.
I've never understood juicers. It's like a blender... but it removes fiber which equals less nutrition. Also juicers are less versatile and a pain to clean and cost roughly the same amount if not more. Like, why? I don't get it.
I suppose they're useful when you've just had a wisdom tooth removed and can only ingest things through a straw. Or if you're into making sorbet. Otherwise, I don't see the point. Just use a blender/mixer and a strainer.
A juicer could be useful for extracting juice to make jellies, but I don't consider juices on their own to be particularly healthy. It's basically flavored sugar water that will cause your blood sugar level to spike which can contribute to the onset of Type 2 diabetes. You need the fiber fruits and vegetables provide.
I purchased the Breville Fresh & Furious, and use the juice function. If it is too pulpy, then I run it a 2nd time. Otherwise, if I am looking to toss that much 💰💰💰 at juicing, a Vitamix would be in the mix.
Thanks. I can't afford it. only a wallmart nutribullet. I never juice carrots. It spikes your glucose. Best is lemon, celery, cucumber, green apple. And a little bit of beet root. Make sure you peel it to get all the dirt off.
What a waste of time that you didn't include a revolutionary Nama J2, which is orders of magnitude better. Good grief, ATK has really jumped the shark.
Why wasn't the Kuving slow juicer... test kitchen only puts sponsored companies 😠 is there reviews are inaccurate, can people need to take their reviews with a grain of salt
@@sandrah7512 I haven't used the Kuvings, but it is essentially identical to the Nama J2 that I've used, and if those are ATK's comments, they are bizarre. It is fast, holds a huge amount of produce, and is easy to clean. ATK has jumped the shark
@@sandrah7512 I know exactly what jump the shark means. ATK reviews have been increasingly incompetent since Christopher left. For us, the best of both worlds is a Vitamix -- though it is more of a smoothie maker, not juicer. This way you get the benefit of fiber.
This. Juicers get rid of all the good stuff. Smoothies are the way to go if it's healthy drinks you're after.
When I heard the price I made the same face Bridget did when she tasted the carrot juice.
Ouch!

I still love the jack lalane juicer. Works great everytime
I have both an Omega and a Breville juicer but my favorite by far is the Pure Juicer, but it's pricey.
@suzannes5888
Yep, for US$2,000+, the Pure Juicer *should* be good.
Would have been nice to see it working
I find it easier to eat my fruits and vegetables and chew really well.
No budget pick? For $400 I'd rather use a good blender and add some water and/or ice to make smoothies. On top of that, more fiber in the drinks, and less counter/storage space required.
it's also far healthier that way, since a lot of what's separated with juicers is the healthy stuff
You really should never add ice to a smoothie, as it dilutes them. Instead, add frozen fruit.
@@CPUGaming You can absolutely add ice. It's just a question of what texture you like.
@@lsamoa Yes, you can add whatever you want, but not if you don't want diluted smoothies.
@@CPUGaming Well, some of us do like slightly diluted smoothies. Not everyone is into thick ones.
The juice weasel was always my favorite!
Those filters are a PIA to clean. I had one and used it maybe twice. If it can't go in the dishwasher...hard pass.

Yes it be more of a smoothie bowl depending on how much frozen items you use

I have an Acme. It was my Mother's. She used to make carrot juice all the time. I never use it although I love carrot juice. It's a monster to clean.
Yeah most all juicers are even the masticating ones.
How did you miss the Nama J2? It’s the best juicer at the moment.
Why discard the fiber in foods?

Health, vitality and I think I lost it after that. I need memory food! Joking. Lots of fun.

Vitamix and keep the fiber in your juice. It’s much easier to clean than any “juicer”

Breville
