I bought my knife right when it was released, major fan of the ice man. I do notice our handles are contoured differently. I'm thinking about replacing the wire wraps with sinew and hemp cord because the wire tarnishes green to often. All in all it's a wonderful utility blade. Subscribing, teamwork makes the dream work.
@@Tctbnl I snipped the copper wire wrap and replaced it with sinew and hemp cord. Came out pretty dandy. Interesting discovery was the copper wire was oxidized like crazy underneath, the wood was stained green. Also it appears the blade is pinned in under the top wire wrap. I suspect the oxidation is from the moisture retained in the leather sheath.
@Yoko.Kurama It was greenest underneath, but essentially, it would be all over. Underneath and on top. I think what happened was the leather sheath wicks up moisture and hands get sweaty and damp. It was worst on the wrap closest the blade. When I snipped the wire wrap off, the corrosion was just caked up against the wood handle. I had to give it a serious scrapping and alcohol wipe to get it off.
I bought this knife a couple years ago because Otzi was one of my favorite history topics growing up alongside the Franklin Expedition and King Tut. I was obsessed with Mummies. While I loved this knife for its looks and feel, it just wasn't practical at all and the blade was dull as could be. I spent actually spent a afternoon breaking down cardboard boxes, probably 25 of them, to fit into a trash can after moving. By the time I was done, the edge that I had rehoned and sharpened had rolled basically the length of the blade. While it's a good display and concept knife, mine just absolutely failed in execution
Condor edge is kinda dull on there knives. It doesn't take much effort for there 1075/1095 to be shaving sharp. I use a diamond rod and a coffee cup with the inside of belt strop. Got mine from sknw in Gatlinburg great knife all in all
@@Tctbnl am I right tho? The other name u said was the "designer" but this was found on OTZI this design is made from the knife from OTZI that's 100s of years old? So it's a "OTZI" design tecnally. 😆
According to blade hq 1075. Knife center 1095, and for some reason condors webstore won’t pull up. Listed as different steels on different webstores. Thanks for watching
@@Tctbnl Hmm interesting. Condors webpage and product catalog also says 1075. Thats very odd. The Cavelore is in 1095, same style but longer. Is possible that Condor did them but does not make them in 1095 anymore? And all websites and reviews that i have seen so far say its 1095 (except yours). Strange..
I love this little knife just as much as my eldris but more a show piece I wear, the story is why I wanted one so bad it's awesome and great to use!
👍💯👍💯
a modern take of a classic legend.

Good to know, thank you for sharing
Was the green visible only on the underside of the wire?

Very good points all around
How is the retention with the sheath? Does it stay put upside down when wearing as a neck knife?
No issues with retention, of course I carry it so the handle is upright.
Dull out of the box? Yup it's a condor. I've got their butcher knife and it came the same way but after sharpening it's been a great knife.
👍💯👍💯
I forgot to say I pair it with a piranha p1 pocket auto. Great combo imo
A knife truly isn't yours till you have taken the time to bring it to a razors edge.
Awesome knife
👍💯👍💯
Looks like a pretty sweet necker. I gravitate more towards stainless though. It's like a primitive version of a mora eldris 😆.
Didn’t think of that till now. I can totally see it
Thats different kinda cool
Yes indeedy

It's a good looking knife to be sure. I am a little disappointed that it's not 1095. TBH, for the price, I'd rather have the Mora Eldris.
👍💯💯👍
👍 Good knife. I wish the handle was 1/2” longer,, but not a deal breaker. Does most knife stuff well.

Paracord was a good call. Also very useful to have
Thank you brother
Nike shoe strings if you don't have 550
Like how the other guy said he designed this. Pretty sure OTZI did 😂

I didn't need to hear you taking a dump !
Huh? You didn’t hear that in my video, but have a great day
@@Tctbnl I thought you had said a data dump ?
My camera likes to randomly shut its self off during filming. Hince the the running joke “camera took a dump”

all the sites im seeing now show this to be 1095 not 1075....
They might have changed the steel over the years. This is a older review 👍💯
Use a twizzler for pull test 😂😂😂😂😂 it's a cute little knife
I just might do that in a future video 😂😂😂😂😂😂
At least it cuts
That it does
Steel is 1095! Not 1075.

Condor could have changed the steel from the original run. I have seen stranger things brother
@@Tctbnl I checked the 2020 Catalog.. there it is at page 59. MATERIAL: 1095 High Carbon Steel

Otzi was alive during the bronze age ,was his knife bronze or rock or bone?
Dunno, never looked it up
Ötzi lived during the copper age. He had an axe with a copper blade, which would have been a valuable piece in his time, and his knife was flint.

Oot-zee...... Not Ut-zee😐😐😁😁😁😁

Kinda expensive

Nah the quality of the sheath is almost worth enough. If it came with a belt loop I be over the 🌚
