Chopin Nocturne Op 55 No 1

This is one of the saddest of Chopin's nocturnes, written shortly after the deaths of his teacher, his father, and one of his best friends. The downward four notes in the right-hand melody, which reoccur multiple times, suggest his despair. However, the ending that floats upward signals some hope.
