Such a wonderfully emotional song and so heartbreaking. Am I the only one who felt like we were intruding on a private moment with Chris working through some heavy shit. It made my anxiety peak because I felt I was invading his personal space.

The song is about all the relationships he's messed up and people he's hurt to create this kind of music, so it'd be odd if people didn't feel it/relate to it on some level. Symbolism for the typically dark places many artists/musicians/lyricists go to in search of those haunting, eviscerating kinds of lyrics. It's not pretty, I'm sure, and I'd think the impact results the people around them.
I think that he isn't dreaming. If you notice he has smoke around him when he wakes up. In the song he mentions being prisoner by his own hand. What if he's in a loop that he can't escape no matter what he does... That's my perspective on it...
