I'll always remember when our son started kindergarten. I was visiting with his teacher one day (bc I'd go once a week to volunteer my help in the classroom) & she looked at me quizzically & asked, "Whatever do you DO all day?" She thought I volunteered bc I was "bored" at home with nothing to do🏡 😅. Our daughter was 2 at the time but irrelevant bc there is ALWAYS something that needs to be done.
I'll always remember that comment. It does make me sad when so many are unaware of what homemaking entails.
Shoot!! I'd rather work. I've done both, and I worked much harder at being a mom than I did going to a job. Work ends!! 😂

Yes, on revisiting the clothes. I know exactly what you mean.. When I saw you trying on the different items, I remembered that there's a blouse that I have that fits more tightly than I like. I kept justifying thinking, I'll just wear a jean jacket over it. But then when I would take the jacket off, I would always feel self conscious and have to go change the blouse. I now know that if I change out of something one time, even one time, it needs to be donated!
Today I decided to donate a plant as well. It was getting too big for the table it sat on and I decided to repurpose the metal table to the front porch where I was needing something when I read.

The plant is healthy but i'm telling myself it's o k. Our daughter is going to a swap for the first time at a friend's house & you can bring anything so she's going to take some of my things.
Again, you are my favorite content creator. All of this is so completely relevant to my journey. Hardback kids books were revisited from my sentimental bin...9 going! DD23 looked through them and didn't even like or remember most of them... And it could be years before grand kids arrive on the scene 😅l o l

I have a 15 yr old boy, and for several years now, it's been difficult keeping up with food. He eats everything in the house. I have to hide anything I want 😂

Happy Fall! We have some similar candles on our mantle and enjoy them so much! The only real candle I burn is bee's wax that we light at dinnertime. Reading (books from the library) at bedtime helps me sleep so much better! Have a happy birthday!

Thank you for a fun video! I really enjoy your channel showing real life chores and how you stay on top of keeping your home looking fresh! With cooking/baking- I have found over the years unless I dedicate a time slot I think about all of the clean up and then do something else. A trick for the hungry boys is if they are into a certain food like waffles you can make a bunch that aren’t totally cooked then freeze them to toast. Breakfast burritos are another one. Sounds like your Costco card is going to come in handy! Have a happy birthday!

I tried to
Order a money tree through Amazon in February. They just will not deliver these plants to AZ. I just looked at Home Depot too. Pickup not available for any of them. 🥺😭

Changing pillow covers for the seasons is the main minimal decor I now use. I like it because it's both form and functional and easy to store. Your home is very cozy and inviting. I bake a lot but I haven't been successful with keeping sourdough starters going. Levi is going to out grow his highchair soon, he's getting so big. Loved this video!

Here’s the bad news about boys and groceries…it will get worse until they are at least 20! My son drank a gallon of milk per day during his teens. And a box of cereal. Plus double-triple portions of food. He ended up being 6 ft 6 inches tall.
I am afraid we are headed down the same path LOL! My husband is 6ft 5in.

So happy for you about the wood mantel. I look forward to seeing those videos. I had a brick fireplace in my last house with 3 little brick shelves. I tried decorating them for the first few years. Then I stopped putting anything on them. It was natural brick and they kind of faded into the overall design and weren’t noticeable. That was my favorite.

Beautiful. I just made banana pumpkin bread and set up our fall decor. My kids really like art. And my 5yr old is in kindergarten and the teacher says he has advanced art.

I've organized all my recipes. I bought a 3-ring binder & page protectors. I typed up my recipes on regular typing paper & inserted them into the page protectors. Then I put index tabs on page protectors to make recipe categories. It's very easy to add new recipes to the binder.
I need a bigger binder, that little one can't fit the bigger paper. You have inspired me to work on that project, Thank you!

What do you suggest for someone like me in a tiny private rented house who only plans to be here another year? Im in the uk and if you could put my 3 bed house in yx2 of your living room that’s it.. plus 1 small under the stairs cupboard and a tiny concrete garden. Thank you! The plant in the brown wicker basket is a fiddle leaf fig and the plant at the 5 min mark is a snake plant. I have had both of those for at least 5 years now. =)

Lovely vlog. Love your tiny touches of Fall. Very cosy. It's nice to have a few things changed each season to change things up for the season and/or make things cosy, even as a minimalist. In Scandinavian "Hygge" is really important, especially in the dark, cold Autumn/Winter months.
Ps. If you buy REAL bees wax candles or bees wax mats to roll your own candles there are NO toxic fumes. My kids love making/rolling candles. They also make them for their grandparents as gifts.
Pps. After first 20mins of baking, cover the banana bread loosely with tin foil to cook it. It will rise more and cook in the center, then take the tin foil off for the last 15mins.. then the top won't burn.
I LOVE your couch! We had one just like that but in the camel color. Where did you purchase yours from? I really want one again, I dislike our couch we have now.❤
This couch is from Mathis Brothers, we like it because the cushions can't come off and get all messed up. We have had it for about 3 years and it's still holding up. =)

Your office & the rest of the house looks wonderful! In your last video you mentioned about not keeping much paper but where do you keep your recipe book? Love that you are an artist. I have a degree in Visual Arts too.
I keep that recipe book (which I need to redo because it's not the right size) on my kitchen shelf where I can grab it really easily.
Florida here, still hot, low 90's but a little cooler at night. Spring is my favorite season when everything gets green after our brown winter.
The mantle will be a nice addition, it will look good.
I've used flameless candles for years, because I have cats, it's so much safer; no burned whiskers, tales or knocked over.

I'm curious. Why are you removing the door in your office?
We are removing the door because the bathroom it leads to is super small and it has another door as well. I can touch both doors at the same time LOL. By having both doors it makes the bathroom even smaller (when they are both open). Another reason is I want that bathroom for guests since it's at the front of our home and having that extra door adds to so much confusion. haha

I love pillow covers. They're so much easier to store than extra pillows. My sourdough starter also grew mold🤔. Right now, I'm into muffins. Fall baking is the best!
I have never had it grow mold for years! I was shocked to see mold. I read up on it and thought it was best to try again instead of continue with it.
I already love cooking, but I always get extra energized to cook in fall and winter.
