GameFreak reuses assets since XY. I woudn't call it laziness, but incompetence. They should have expanded years ago. I finished Scarlet and there is a lot of improvements from Sword/Shield, but they really should have asked for help Nintendo (Monolithsoft) or contracted someone to help with optimalization, then Scarlet/Violet wouldn't be an exceptional game but at least a solid one.
