Overlooked is an understatement (over-under...hey, not a bad play on words). I always felt that this song was the hidden gem on Hotel California, just so gorgeous.
Agree and especially with Mark B, This tune is so underrated. If given the same energy and focus as most Henley and Frey songs, this would have been a mega hit. Beautiful song! As a native Nashvillian, Vince does a superb job “almost” as good as Randy, but not quite. Vince covered it well.
@@thedolphinDog That’s what I read as well. Frey on lead. Don’t remember where I saw that, can’t confirm. Also read that Eagles never played this one live in Frey’s time.
Randy put a beat down on anyone who ever attempts this song. Its not even close. Randy just scored another td. Its brave for Vince to even try. I will give him that but randy is still running the score up.
Glenn Frey played the solo on the original studio recording of this song. That being said, I do wish They didn’t kick Felder out, IMO the most important part of the sound aside from Henley and Frey!
I have a question????? Don Felder played lead on stage with Vince Gill in Atlanta inn 2020 I saw this in a comment statement from DolphinDog from four weeks ago...Can that be true ,or WISH FULL THINKING ....
Highly Highly Doubt It. If your involved with the Eagles Camp Felder is like the black plauge as far as Henley is Concerned. Even Walsh can’t even have a friendship with Felder let alone jam with him, and Joe is one of the nicest people in the Buisness and is freinds with EVERYBODY. Henley kicked someone in the front row out of one of his solo shows for yelling Felders name when he was introducing Steuart Smith.
I didn't get ta hear da beginning from da start.Still miss Randy singing dis nah!Vince is a Close 2nd,but cant Take It to The Limit as well.Just saying,no disrespect nah!
From stage right to left Vince Gill- Lead Vocals, Guitar Timothy B Schmidt-Bass, Vocals Don Henley (playing acoustic guitar as opposed to drums) -Guitar, Vocals Deacon Frey-Lead Guitar, Vocals Joe Walsh-Guitar, Vocals Steuart Smith-Guitar, Vocals And Henleys long time solo drummer since the early 90s Scott Crago.
No he is not. This is Randy's song just like Take It To The Limit is his song as well. When Randy sings it is like he is telling a story and that is what grabs your attention.
disagree completely................This may have been Randy's song......But Vince is one of America's great singer songwriters who takes a back seat to NOBODY!
Randy gave us Try and love again and Take it to the limit. Two great masterpieces.
One of the best songs on the Hotel California album.
Agreed. Most of the songs on that album are really, really good and this one is better than most of them.
Randy's song...
No one beats Randy Meisner, not now not ever.Fact.
Truth, Stephen.
Vince is the only singer who could come close to the great Randy Meisner on this fantastic often overlooked song.
Overlooked is an understatement (over-under...hey, not a bad play on words). I always felt that this song was the hidden gem on Hotel California, just so gorgeous.

I hope it somehow does give a bump to the royalties Randy gets from the Eagles. Maybe a few extra copies of Hotel California sold. Then it's all good.
Glenn Frey also played the guitar solo on the original recording! GREAT SOLO TO!
Deacon Nails it here! On Old Black just like his Old Man!
Miss u Randy
After 24 years of marriage and being separated for a year I have someone, but she also has trust issues. This song hit home.
I missed Randy, Don and Glenn but that was pretty awesome. It’s just a beautiful song and they nailed it.
The Eagles🦅💖🕺👬🧑🤝🧑🌟🤩
Great!🎼🎵🎹🎸🥁🎤📀👍👏
From Hong Kong🙋♀️🌏💝🌺🥰
Randy is the only voice for that song. RIP.
Miss u Randy. Thank u Vince, well sung, smooth🤩
Randy vocals....Don Felder on lead....Try and Love again......God Bless All
Actually, Glenn on guitar solo and Joe on the Gretsch guitar defining the melody
@@helengoulimis5060 your saying Glen is play lead guitar not Don Felder in ",Try and Love Again?"
@@thedolphinDog That’s what I read as well. Frey on lead. Don’t remember where I saw that, can’t confirm. Also read that Eagles never played this one live in Frey’s time.
@@thedolphinDog it was Don Felder who made the solo.. you're try to say the I can't tell you why solo is Glenn Frey's effort.
@@bird401 You can read it in the credits of the original LP: Try and Love Again: Lead Guitar: Glenn Frey; Gretsch Guitar: Joe Walsh.
Vince sang it so well.... exquisite! ❤️❤️🦅
Isn’t the same without the original line up..especially Randy.
Well obviously but they are fine without them.....
Amen...
@@Ryan-1999 not really. Randy can't be replaced. Neither can Frey and Felder. It is just a cover band now.
Never gets old.
Randy’s song...!!!!!!
I missed Randy , Don and Glenn but that was just awesome. Simply a beautiful song and they nailed it.
Damn straight. I always thought that song was the hidden gem on Hotel Cal, and Randy never was recognized enough. They did a great job here.
Randy put a beat down on anyone who ever attempts this song. Its not even close. Randy just scored another td. Its brave for Vince to even try. I will give him that but randy is still running the score up.
agreed.
Right down memory lane
Only Randy could sing this and only Don Felder could play that guitar. Period
Glenn Frey played the solo on the original studio recording of this song.
That being said, I do wish They didn’t kick Felder out, IMO the most important part of the sound aside from Henley and Frey!
Musically, the best song in Hotel California album, ok maybe maybe...
Completely Agree! I said that in 1977.............
Good job Vince.....Randy has got you, but thanks for keeping this one alive.
Compared to Randy...they are learners
This is so monotone without Randy
Miss Randy....
I was there. Great time by all !
Man, that was great!
Vince you sing like an Angel. ❤️
This is Randy’s song, but thanks for trying.
Great video. Song is "Try and love again"
I keep getting a copyright ban on this one. So I tried no name to see if that would help and it did not.
Apparently you're in one of the 94 countries that it's not banned in. I'll fix the name now.
@@ericalexander5902 Alright, I see, no prob. For us europeans its so cool even to see something. I´m from Finland.
Don't forget that Deacon also adds HIGH backing vocals, NOT, just Timothy B
Randy Meisner ONLY AND ALWAYS.
agreed
The solo was too salty, DAMN!
Vous m'enlevez un doute : c'est bien Randy Meisner qui la chantait.
No comparison to Randy…….
agreed
Vince Gill did as well as anyone could, but yeah. It isn't Randy.
RIP Randy.

the guitar solos at the end my god
Why isn’t this one in there 2020 album ?

Just saw them last night in buffalo…oh my gosh
Who all is on stage with Vince? Hard for these old eyes to make them out.
I see Joe Walsh second from top, I think Deacon is third from top. Timothy is second from bottom. Not sure if the others.
From stage right to left
Vince Gill- Lead Vocals, Guitar
Timothy B Schmidt-Bass, Vocals
Don Henley (playing acoustic guitar as opposed to drums) -Guitar, Vocals

Joe Walsh-Guitar, Vocals
Steuart Smith-Guitar, Vocals
And Henleys long time solo drummer since the early 90s Scott Crago.
Great!
Nada como Randy
Vince is no match to Randy
No he is not. This is Randy's song just like Take It To The Limit is his song as well. When Randy sings it is like he is telling a story and that is what grabs your attention.
He is better!!

Chuck go to sleep
Vince gill 😍
This is useless without Randy. Bad camera wotk. Pathetic actually
too pretty
You bought the cheap seats.
Great Americans keeping safe Corona distance😂😂😂!
Just had to put that in there didn't you!? There was no such thing as Corona so get over it
