I watched this tutorial when it first came out, and just had the chance to utilize this technique in a project. The usefulness of this tutorial cannot be overstated. Thank you Evan, much love!
i was doing this like 12 years ago, being low in fps making it look not so good, still saves time for non 3d guys. I still prefer c4d or for AE try using element 3D for much much better quality and lots of control out of it
Thank you so much for your time and efforts. I purchased the Premium Membership at Yellow Images, but i am having trouble to download the whole 360 sequence in one step. I only see the option to load one at a time. Anybody else troubled by this?
Hi Evan, would it be possible to load a complete 360° photo object into after effects and somehow move/rotate a camera around it in a faux 3D way? I can imagine you'd need to lock your 3d camera into the angled increments the images were taken. I can imagine such a rig, but have no idea how to make it (outside of setting these things up manually)
I like this idea very much. What we would want to do is link the time remap property to the angle of the camera to object vector. So if the camera is orbited 90 degrees from the object it displays the frame that goes with that angle. It's definitely a methodology worth exploring and has the added benefit of being very nostalgic. I'm pretty sure that's how old games like Doom made character sprites seem 3d but I might be mistaken on that score.
Hi, back in your DNA strand video can you make tutorial for the background circular reveal animation. I have been going at it for about 2 days and haven't figured it out. I was using alpha matt for doing so but there was background color issue.
That'll have to be for the advanced mode. If we have 16 horizontal slices, times 16 vertical slices, we'll need controls that take us through both axis kinda simultaneously picking the right fame on the time remap. Definitely will be the next evolution of this concept though AND something cool we can use to rig claymation or stop motion characters too :)
I think the term usually used would be a turntable animation. It's done a lot in modelling in 3d to show off assets. I'm sure someone has covered that concept extensively. It's really just rotating the model or orbiting the camera and rendering off a png sequence.
Absolutely. I'll put that in today. Be careful copy/pasting from the description though. UA-cam sometimes reformats some punctuation symbols and the syntax can break even though it all looks correct. Just something to be weary of on this platform.
I didn't personally. But yes, someone did to make the image sequence. If you're looking to create image sequences like this I recommend using a turntable or lazy Susan type object so it can rotate on one axis while being fixed in the others.
Can you make this without a 360 image? or can you somehow make a 360 image by yourself either with photography or editing? I'd like to try this with some objects that aren't available on yellow images
Technically you could use any image sequence really. The trick is isolating your subject matter if you want a similar final output. But at a base level you just need an image sequence. There has been some interest in seeing how such a thing could be created so, we might get into it.
ECAbrams thank you for your reply! I was thinking if I take an image and adjust the lighting or add 3D to make a sequence it might create something similar, idk! A tutorial on this would be fantastic! You’re a superhero!
I have no need to spin fruit anytime soon, I just like to watch Evan Abrams as a lesson in humility, to remind myself after 5 years I still know nothing about this program (sorry, "App", showing my age). The guy is not of this world.
11:00 - Is there a way to achieve this without Trapcode Particular? atm the only option in AE is Particle World 2, but doesn't seem to create the same results. Any suggestions please? Thanks!
many particle systems work the same way and can use layers as the texture of the particles. I would look into those options in any particle system you look to deploy. Some of the particle effects that come with after effects have this option.
This is why I miss Fireworks that was bought by PS, but some of its original handy to use ‘macros’ back in the day as they were known as, made importing a sequence or exporting one, even at different sizes or whatever else you asked of a series of Png files, it would follow suit - including super easy to make gifs and animations.... some of which has been incorporated into After Effects and other apps.
I watched this tutorial when it first came out, and just had the chance to utilize this technique in a project. The usefulness of this tutorial cannot be overstated. Thank you Evan, much love!
Oh dang man at first I totally thought you did it stop motion style while taking a few photos to make a sequence.
I don't have the patience for stop motion. I'll leave that to @kevinparry around here.
YOU ARE AMAZING I thoroughly enjoy watching all of your tutorials and you've helped me so much. MAY YOUR FUTURE BE PAVED WITH GOOD KARMA
Thank you so much!
My man's dedication is over the top!
TNice tutorials comnt from you is legendary. Uncomplicated like your video!!!
I loved the %360 tip. I never miss your tutorials, always learn new things.
Glad it was helpful! It's not every day we need to capture the remainder of an operation, but it's nice to know we can :)
You took the words right outta my mouth.
Expressions are crazy useful, I have to get my head around it.

Thanks for the motivation. I wasn't sure if I could do it, but I might try it eventually.

I got the coupon and joined up! I needed the 360 Gummy Bears for a mobile ad. It ended up being so cute!! So thanks for the deal!!
This is great! And your pillows remind me that I miss the old Adobe icons lol
Some day I'll get a icon update around here. Till then these relics will remain on the wall.
I also really like softEX, it has a very nice effect to it

Thank you so much!
What a great video, helps A LOT in the beginning.
You are part changing the world
Hey man thanks a lot. I was really overwheld and confused but now it all makes sense. Thank you.
Good work please keep up ur different styles keep it thank you
Thanks, will do!
Worked smoothly, tysm
It doesn’t quite go into the sa level as detail as Lypur’s videos, but it gives you a great overview of the “basics” - so that you can start
excuse me but who is lypur?
Damn! Worked like a charm! Thank you soooo muc
Really a highly rated work, sir.

Very useful thanks for sharing
If you click on the blue "Bank" section where it says "appes" on the GMS a pop-up will co up where you can change your app style
willing to learn. Unless you already understand setups, then I gues sit's gonna be easier, but as a classically trained pianist I was blown

You're very welcome!
I thought it was a hoax, but everything works!

What was the issue you were having specifically?
very nice video!
Muito bom, vou atualizar. Very good. I will update.
Awesome tricks, thanks a lot! I just cannot figure it out how to rotate the object in the third axis. Could you give me a tip, please?

@@ECAbrams Thanks a lot! I'm not sure I know such an advanced controller in AE, but it;s fun to think about it.
best luck!

How can we crate those 360° Image Sequences ourselves?

Where I can get the files?
Hey, I did everything just like u, but when I edit Angle Control value (5:15) my lemon doesn't rotate. Whats the problem?
I don't have enough context to really know. Are you getting an error message? What else IS happening?
@@ECAbrams i dont get any error message. I can rotate Angle control or just type degrees, but nothing happens with a lemon..

Hi everyone. When I select the png images to import, only the "import multiple sequence" option comes out and not "png sequence". Why? :(
This is why I miss Fireworks that was bought by PS, but some of its original handy to use ‘macros’ back in the day as they were known as, made importing a sequence or exporting one, even at different sizes or whatever else you asked of a series of Png files, it would follow suit - including super easy to make gifs and animations.... some of which has been incorporated into After Effects and other apps.
