I think what amazes me the most is Rachels ease of low strong tones and then wham right up there to the top.. a Great band.. but I have to admit.. that lady has power.. and projection.. wow.. not many these days can sing like her.
My gawd ; watch what she does on the stand-up bass starting at 4:50 The only other performers like this are Post Modern Jukebox; But these guys/girls are just as good

Love the way the guitarist switches to trumpet and then back to guitar. The flashing lights at the back add to the atmosphere as well.
Brilliant. Powerful voice, great harmonies and the meowing great fun. Fabulous band with totally original twists, love it. So many surprises, really works they make you smile with their twists and turns, love it love it.
Such memories of this song, I was working at Famous Recipe Fried Chicken in Yuba City, CA making bisquits at 10PM, I could sing this with Queen new every word and I can still do it, This group does the song justice!

Considering Queen relied on playing a recording of the middle section in concert rather than attempt their OWN DAMN VOCAL ARRANGEMENT I think this is one of the most astounding performances I've seen. And Brian May has officially been replaced with a cat.

Greetings from 2020. This has to be one of the all time greatest cover bands I've come across on UA-cam.
They are by no means a “cover band.” They are, collectively, one of the greatest musical ensembles on the planet. Their albums are predominantly (maybe exclusively) originals, as is most of their concert materials. They just get off on the challenge of this kind of genius cover.

every video performance by LSD on You Tube is just plain fun ! I can't tell you how good the bass player is....an acoustic, fretless upright bass is so hard to master---and Bridget does! on a sexist note, Bridget has great legs, too! also love the electric guitar on this tune

I've just seen Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody on UA-cam 1981 live version. I think they overdub the difficult chorus parts. Here LSD do it without dubbing. Phenomenally difficult song and only three instruments at once.
Queen never tried to perform the operatic section of the song. They used tape and smoke and then came back in when it was over to finish the song.
It's a surprisingly difficult song to play, and almost impossible to get "right". What these folk do is very gently nurse the song into a style that suits it and them. They could make a fortune just doing re-arrangements for people. That they can take it and throw it about a stage like Hulk throws Loki about is testimony to their musicianship, and teamwork that, frankly, we need more of. And the sight of a player of an upright bass juggling foot pedal effects is one I will treasure.
LSD's version of Rich Girl is actually better than the original, Hall n Oates version.

I don't mean this in a negative way as I dig LSD - but their lack of commercial success/megastar abilities equates to a few factors. 1. From what I've heard they are mostly nailing covers of classics - and they nail them, but they appear to be a "high end cover band". 2. Musicianship isn't always commercially valued - particularly the heavy jazz influence. 3. They don't necessarily appeal heavily to the under 25 crowd and their respective ages, music style, and selected covers. Again, I think they are great but they are closer to a novelty act than a commercial success.

I was at this festival a few days before this performance. 8th &9th. This was the 12th. It’s so cool. They’re performing on the Point which is where the three rivers meet. It’s all free. You can get as close as you can stand the speaker noise. Wish I had seen them. It was a very memorable time. My 25th anniversary and the Pens were trying to win the Cup on the 9th. They lost and won it in San Jose in the next game. Pittsburgh was electrified during this week.
Pittsburgh has the very best FREE music scene in the country. In addition to 3RAF, there're dozens of FREE acts available all summer at County parks and other venues. The very best venue is Summersounds; they book eclectic, up-and-coming acts all the time. Here's the very best version of what I think is their very best song - years before anyone had heard of them. Gene booked them at Greensburg BEFORE T Bone Burnett gave them their big break.
