For anyone doing this, I’d recommend letting your car completely cool down before starting. Just started unscrewing mine and burned my hand and pulled away from the pipes and sliced my arm open on some metal because those two pipes below the fan cover were BURNING HOT. Just a warning lol.
MASSIVE THANK YOU for all your effort that went in to making this video. After watching it, at least 10 times, I finally got the courage to do it myself on my LHD ST150. It was the same procedure but mirrored. God damn it was hard for a rookie like me, all worth it though, can't imagine trying to make this video. Now just waiting for the next resistor to blow lol. Cheers from Sweden
I'm 74 and just managed the resistor replacement back in summer by becoming a part-time contortionist. Now, the grinding motor on my wife's Fusion is so bad it shakes the steering wheel! This video is amazingly encouraging, because you do so much in real time and it's not contrived. It gives me the confidence to have a go. It's particularly good you name the torx screws etc as you work. Perhaps I will buy a few more tools first and then get in there, having watched again x3. I've a garage that will get me out of trouble if all else fails, but at £60 an hour, of course! Thanks for a great instructive video. No wonder there aren't many others!🤣
Hope you managed to get it done. I've been trying on my fusion all day initially it did work for a few mins so had to take it out again now finding it so difficult to put it back in. Torx screw holes do not seem to be lining up correctly...
Looks easy enough if you’re not 16 stone and 63 years old like me, but at least I now have a chance of getting it done. Many thanks for sharing this it’s going to be very helpful. Ray
Fiesta 2008. Blower was only working on 4 a while back = resistor. Then not working on any setting so changed the resistor anyway. What a balls ache that is. Unbelievable these designers - they must have difficulty meeting lovers so they fk everybody else’s life up. Relays ok fuse ok not sure about the switch as that’s a trashy mess getting that out as well. SO I’m going to go for a new blower next. Well done on this vid. I’ve started to curse already and I haven’t started the swap yet. 11/10 mate thanks.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, I gave it a go changed the motor blower and the resister. I ended up with aches and pains neck cramp and got very angry with it but I did get it all done, I also broke all the cage bits same as you but it’s all working fine, so many thanks for this video without it I wouldn’t of had a clue.
Thanks so much for making this video! I’ve had the same problem with my 05 fiesta and knew it was the blower motor but never knew how to fix it myself, hopefully once ive got the money spare to buy the part I’ll be able to replace it before our summer starts.
I really admire the level of patience you put to make this video and resolve the issue. BTW I also have an Indian version of this hatchback called Ford Figo (7 yrs old) and got this blower problem ( sometime run and sometime not). I don't understand the reason why the designer of the car made this simpler thing this difficult, I discussed this with service station and they are charging installations fee exactly the same of the fan motor price 😕 so it double the cost. while it could have done by people like me so easily if they put this in a easy location.
Thank you mate, I really appreciate that you can see the amount of work that goes into making the videos 😁 I agree, it’s a silly place to put it but I guess the don’t plan for them to fail. I hate having to pay someone else to do the work
Best how to video about this common issues I've seen. I've had to replace the resistor 3 times now, and it's gone again, and I think the motor is the problem I've got too (confirmed this could be the case with a local garage over phone), but I already hate replacing the resistor because it's a faff where its located, so because you've just shown how much of a faff replacing the motor is...I might have to wait it out until the garage can do it for me 😂. Thanks for the great video though
Thank you for the video, I made it yesterday ans it works perfectly. I just had to adapt my brain because its a French car with the glove box on the right side ;-) My modest tip: Removing the bracket of the fuse box (3 M10 nuts) makes the extraction of the blower much easier.
I changed mine in the driveway on a 43 degree Celsius day. It’s a :)/?&, of a job to do but that sweet flow of near silent air afterwards makes it all worth while.
Felt like -43 when I did mine 😂 might that’s a bit dramatic but it was cold 🥶 you’re right though, makes such a difference, the inside of the car is a much more comfortable place to be now. Can’t even hear number 1, pro the quietest of any car I’ve owned now.
TIP for those doing this job, you can unscrew the bracket the ECU sits on to give you more room, and the little bit of carpet trim under the glovebox, if you pull the two black tabs away, the carpet drops down and the ECU drops down with it, giving more room again.
Wow, only removing the pedals was enough? That's kind of a relief. I kinda panicked, that I have to fiddle around, with the steering wheel as well. (I have to remove the gas pedal every year, when I'm changing the air cabin filter, so at least I'm comfortable with that one)
Mate I’m fairly handy and know my way around cars but if it wasn’t for your video I would been scratching my head wondering how the f*** , so it’s a massive 👍from me and because of your video I did it in less than an hour
Cheers for this video bud. I'm going to give replacing the motor a try. I've had the issue but also had my resistor blowing, thought it's been stuff in the system this whole time but this looks exactly like it!
Dead leaves drop down an fill the fan, mine needs doing now.😊 it was removing the whole dash that put off the idea. Don’t believe what Ford mechanics say to you.
Got same problem. I've attempted to remove the motor today. I've broken those plastic bars on the housing too 😂 The motor got jammed and couldn't remove it. I will attempt again next weekend and try twisting it while removing. What a mission it is...!
hi i just replaced my heater blower same as u have here...i also am struggling with that white connector on top..it doesnt seem to stay in at all....have i broken it or is there some trick to refit it? i think its the air intake flap actuation cable ...but not sure :( thanks
Hiya great video my 2009 ford fiesta st is starting to make the same noise aswell. Just a quick question did you disconnect the battery before doing the work?
@@MendItModIt thank you, I took it out and put back in and oiled the small moving bits either side as it sounded the same as yours.. I’ve plugged it and installed it back in place, when tested it tried to work for a few seconds and then cut out. It now doesn’t work on 1,2,3 and 4!! Could it be the fuse??
@@benjeffries100 if the bearings in the fan are that bad the resistance could have caused an excessive current draw and blown the fuse (not the resistor fuse) but I would say more likely the fan needs replacing
@@MendItModIt no quite frankly I'm not looking forward to buying a new one and being upside down in the passenger side footwell in the -2° weather these days, it's a spring/summer job😂
Just a wee tip on a great video. Remove the metal fuse box bracket. It's only three M10 nuts and it makes the whole job so much easier.

I saw this video a while back and still put the job off for ages. Finally bit the bullet. The video really helped. I actually removed the seat as well

Have to do the same one, same blower, but on a LHD haha so need to get the pedals out of it. FML haha, thx for the video!

Thank you for the video. It looks like my one needs a new blower..
Will use your video for reference.
How's the resistor holding up? Did it burn out again?
Thank you. Very, very helpful.
Very helpful video Thanks
Thank you for this video. I will try tomorow and I hope I will make it.
Great video, I have a 2003 1.4 zetec what resistor and blower would fit, many thanks.
I did this on the Fiesta and on the Fusion. Its easier on the Fusion. Most fun work ever.
Good video and very helpful, thanks👍
i would be to scared to drive that and get it dirty it look's bling shiny shiny 😎👍
Thank you 😂 it’s all a lie, the camera makes it look so much better but the bodywork isn’t in great shape. But that’ll all get sorted soon 🤞🏻
top job need to do this myself ty for sharing

My blower has just done the same, just changed the resistor but still makes the wierd racket sounds like the blades are loose
Замени лучше полностью мотор печки. Я ставил неоригинального производителя (Luzar LFH 1031). 4 года прошло как поставил. Пока шума нет.
good stuff mate, looks like a proper shit job, a knuckle grinder
It’s sure was 😂 hated it but it had to be done 🙃
Hiya great video my 2009 ford fiesta st is starting to make the same noise aswell. Just a quick question did you disconnect the battery before doing the work?
Not for this no, but it wouldn’t do any harm if you wanted to for piece of mind
HI, good job buddy - whats the part number of the motor.
Where can I get one from?
Could I take the old one out and lubricate it instead of buying a new one? Mine makes the exact same noise as your on 1,2,3 and 4!!!
Might help for a bit but if the bearings have gone it won’t last long. You won’t know without trying I guess 🙃

How much trouble do you have with your cars pal? hhahaa
Тоже сам менял мотор печки. Жопа полная.

I proper didn’t want to be outside doing it, especially when it got dark but it’s made such a difference now.
