  • In collaboration with the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology held a special debate session on October 3, 2022 during its annual meeting in Chicago, where several topics were discussed. Dr. Sebag was invited to speak about his experience performing limited vitrectomy for vitreous floaters that disturb vision, called Vision Degrading Myodesopsia. Previously dismissed as just a nuisance and not a true disease, vitreous floaters are increasingly appreciated as a cause for vision loss, primarily the degradation in contrast sensitivity, Dr. Sebag argued. He went on to describe that limited vitrectomy is a highly successful procedure that is performed in 10 - 15 minutes under local anesthesia in an ambulatory surgery center. In his lecture, Dr. Sebag shared that several studies have confirmed a very low risk profile and documented significant improvements in vision and patient quality-of-life.

I really wish this info was shared in amongst ophthalmologists, I have been told several times that it is to dangerous and that it guarantees Cataract surgery in a few years
