KL, a comfortable city, lovely restaurants, massive shopping malls, lots of varieties, great parks, and the best weather. Nearby are the cool highland resorts, beaches, pristine jungle with waterfalls. All within reach by magnificent highways.
Actually non muslims tourists are allowed at the National Mosque. You could have arrived during prayer times, so you were not allowed to enter inside the building. Outside prayer times, everybody is welcomed

16:31 you just pop up at the counter and pick what you feel like eating..the main meal is nasi kandar its like cafetaria u get a plate of rice and just choose what protein/veg u want..they will charge according to what u get. If you dont fancy the rice, then you can browse the menu for any other meals such as roti canai (flat-bread), naans, fried rice/noodles etc.
U guys should check out Malacca or Melaka...juz about 2 hours journey from KL...u can take bus from KL Sentral to Melaka...its a touristy city with a remnant of Portuguese, Dutch and British still intake....and then u can try go to Genting Highland about 1 hour from KL....u also can take bus from KL Sentral....next is Cameron Highland about 4 hours journey from KL..u will experience d Tea Plantation, strawberry park etc...
We did manage to get to Penang and Langkawi (next week's Vlog is all about Penang) but didn't make it to either Cameron Highlands or Malacca. We were so impressed with Malaysia that we will certainly be back and will visit both, as others have also said they are well worth a visit.
Mike, if you're swinging by KL again, the Dharma Realm Monastery vegan eatery might be of culinary interest. Thanks for taking us along on your travelogue, felt like I was back in vibrant Kuala Lumpur again!
Many thanks for the suggestion. KL and Singapore are both stopping off grounds from the UK on the way out further East or to NZ and Australia. We will certainly be in KL again we loved it.

@TravelBugTheRobinsons Sorry, but I really can't remember, I'm thinking 40 something.....!. It was about ten floors below the infinity pool at the top. On Booking.com it is listed as Platinum Suites Tower 2 KLCC. I was talking with the chap who checked us in, and basically "his boss" had the whole floor and let apartments out through various places like booking.com. Practically the entire building is holiday apartments and there are 2 sorts of people who have apartments. Those who do the check-ins themselves and meet you in the foyer and those who use the front desk to do them on their behalf. There is no way of knowing which one you have booked. The front desk ones can be a nightmare with long queues and miserable staff. We were very dubious having read all the reviews; however, we did not experience any of the bad bits such as long elevator delays etc. KL is awesome, vibrant and well worth a visit 😀
Apparently it is a requirement of Malysian Immigration that visitors have a ticket to leave the country again when they enter. When we went to check in for the flight in Vietnam the airline would not check us in unless we had a ticket to get back out of Malaysia afterwards. They explained that if we didn't have one and they let us board the aircraft and we were refused entry to Malaysia they would be responsible for taking us back in to Vietnam. In order to do this I just went on to booking.com and booked the cheapest flight possible (£19 - no luggage -Penang to Singapore) They then let us board. Interestingly enough, when we got to Malaysia they did check we had accommodation booked and travel out of the country booked too. I was unable to change the flight with booking.com nor get a refund so we simply didn't show for the the flight and eventually flew out a week or two later. It made no difference as we were stamped in for 90 days. Hope that helps.
A few days before we go anywhere we google things to do in (insert place) and we do the same on UA-cam. We then choose the ones we want to do during the week and I write a list of 15 or so in a notebook. As we do each one we cross them off the list. If we are talking to people and they suggest other places we add them on.
This is a link to the property on booking.com. It is a little complicated in that there are numerous people renting suites out in a huge building. You will see many mixed reviews about the building and the apartments. Most of these seem to relate to poor service from the front desk, poor comms with the person renting it out and the lifts always being full. All I can say is we never had to wait for a lift for more than a few minutes and the person we rented it from met us in the lobby, so we didn't have to deal with the front desk. He also responded very quickly to any requests and was on time to hand it back to at the end. I would rent from this user again.
