TikTok Star Jehane Thomas Dead at Age 30

- TikTok personality Jehane Thomas has died. The single mother of 2 boys used her platform to talk about juggling motherhood and a start-up business. On March 5th, she wrote on Instagram, “I was diagnosed with optic neuritis a few months ago after nearly 2 years of being told my migraines were stress related.” The cause of death has not been announced. She leaves behind two children, aged just 1 and 3. Jehane Thomas was 30 years old.
She was so young and suffered so much. As a migraine sufferer, I understand the debilitating pain and inability to function when it hits. Also doctors lack of knowledge and not enough research into treating it. Prayers for her kids and family.
I also feel like the term "migraine" is often over-used, and used too casually.. like someone saying "uh I've got this migraine today!" When in reality it's just a headache. Which in turn causes coworkers, loved ones & friends of the real migraine sufferers to not see the severity. And maybe it causes doctors to become desensitized to people reporting migraines?

@@pinky567 Sinus infection can cause severe headaches that can be mistaken for migraines. I have migraine what I. Thought was a migraine turned out to be just the opposite a sinus infection.
I got this temporarily due to an infection some months ago. Im a grown man and I was crying in the kitchen because the pain from that migraine is unbearable. You can't even rest your head on anything because it makes your brain hurt & swell and if you try to force it you'll go blind for a few seconds. It was unbearable. Couldn't sleep for an entire week. R.I.P to this woman.

I think until you’ve had a true migraine, a person has no idea how painful & debilitating it is. Can’t even call it a headache - it’s beyond that. Here’s hoping you never have to go through one again.
Always seek more than one opinion when you know there is something wrong and they dismiss you. They will often write you off as just wanting pain meds or crazy. But it’s your life not theirs. I know this was just a comment about her passing...but how do you seek second and third opinions if you live somewhere there's only one hospital and the population is tiny so there aren't a bunch of alternative options locally? I can't afford to scour the earth for other doctors and then drive for hours and spend a bunch of money on treatment but I wholeheartedly believe I've got cancer and NEVER been a hypochondriac. The ONE clinic here I have to go through though,the Dr. there is treating me like I'm crazy. Do u have any insight or advice as to what to do in that situation? Sorry for bugging you.

She sounded and looked like a wonderful parent. I hope those boys will get the love and support she gave them. She seemed like a very honorable thoughtful woman. Hopefully her life and love can be cherished and remembered for the sake of those boys. That’s just so tragic. I pray they receive the strength to have fulfilling joyous lives in her memory.

The medical system is so broken..Doctors either over worked or dont care or dont have the resources to properly treat patients anymore...My father was told he had a flu to go home..no joke...and he died 4 months later of liver cancer! Our deepest condolences to her family🇵🇪

After seeing this, it makes me really appreciate what my wife's neurologist did. She has been suffering from a lot more migraines than normal. A few weeks ago at her appointment, she told him she has been under more stress than normal but he sent her for an MRI, anyway, to be on the safe side he said. Everything came back fine but I am glad he did it after seeing this story.
how can Optic Neuritis be lethal? I was looking around and saw that the condition itself isn't lethal. Something else was going on then
My sister had very bad migraines when she was in her early 20’s, they always dismissed something more dangerous and kept giving her medication for migraines. It got to a point where her body collapsed, when they took her to the hospital they finally ran more tests and she had an acoustic aneurysm as big as a golf ball.
Heartbroken for her babies who will face this mad world without her mom. I hope they surround with love and support from anyone who takes care of them
I don’t really get into tic tok but hearing this young woman’s story is heartbreaking. My middle daughter has terrible migraines and her docs keep telling her it’s stress too. My heart breaks for her now orphaned babies. May she rest in peace.

All we can do is speculate as to the cause of her death, but please understand that chronic pain and illness impact the mind, too. Please be kind no matter the manner of death, and be understanding of what chronic pain really is ❤. Prayers for her babies.
A perfect example of medical neglect….I never knew how common it was until a family member found out she had a “zebra” condition. Then I met my best friend who has Ehlers danlos and POTS. And then I met a coworker who almost died because her nurses ignored her after giving birth to her child. Now I’ve realized it’s dangerously uncommon 😢 I personally am experiencing this myself now. More could have been done….that poor woman and those poor little babies 😢 Bloods on someone’s hands with this one 🤷🏼♀️ iswis

Yeah. My son was treated for migraines for years and his condition kept worsening. They never did a CT scan or MRI, I guess because there is a family history of migraines. His blood pressure started going out of control and couldn't be managed with medication and then he started having dizzy spells after an airplane trip. He went to an ENT for dizziness and they finally did tests and was sent to neurologists. He has been diagnosed with a skull based chondrosarcoma. His neurologists told him it was slow growing and had been growing for probably 20 years. The thing is, his doctors should have ruled out a tumor to begin with, when the migraines started. All I have to say is if your gut tells you something BAD is wrong and you keep having symptoms go to several different doctors and don't give up until you find out what's wrong. Very sorry this young lady passed.

I've had experienced terrible migraines throughout my entire life after 8 brain surgeries, I wish this woman would've found some sort of relief like I did , Thoughts and prayers to her and the family!

Doctor misdiagnosed is a big problem. Sometimes it can lead to death. Doctors make mistakes.

Just imagining how long she had to endure being told it was all in her head and not being taken seriously. She could have gotten ahead of this condition so much sooner if they had listened. Women, please be your best health advocate. Pain is not a natural state of being. Pain is not weakness leaving your body. She didn't have to die. 😢
I have the same thing and I can say I have personally been on the brink of ending it all myself because of it. They also misdiagnosed me with MS before changing it to this. So many times I almost ended it. It causes so much more than pain too. Depression. Anxiety.
And most people truly don’t understand the pain.
I myself have a very high pain tolerance. But not with this.
FYI - I used to get migranes on an almost daily basis. About 20 years ago I switched to fragrance-free products (soap, laundry detergent, lotion, deodorant, shampoo, etc) which has reduced my migranes to maybe 1 every couple of months. I'm not saying it will completely eliminate your migranes, but it's worth a shot.
I suffer with vestibular migraines and am on 5 different medications to either keep them at bay or help with the relief. I'm in bed for days and have contemplated unaliving myself because the pain is too much. I hope that this is not how she went. 💗 Sending so much love to her family.
This reminds me so much of what happened to my bestie.
She passed away almost two years ago of a brain tumor.
She had kept going to doctors about constant headaches she was having, and each one kept telling her it was either migraines or sinus issues.
It took her collapsing at home infront of her young son before they finally did a brain scan only to discover it was not "migraines or sinuses"...it was a full blown brain tumor.
Sadly, she only lived weeks after the discovery.
Frustrating when you can't get doctors to listen.

Her poor children!!! SINGLE MOTHER 😭😭😭 I lost my mother aswell and it is still the core of all the pain I experience daily. It never gets easier, the days of balling my eyes out just get farther and farther apart since I'm better at ignoring it now and pushing thru. But there's never a time where I am ever comforted like I was when she was here. She was my rock and it feels like I'm in a free fall with no end in site. I used to have terrible days and just a call would put me in the right head space, since I can't do that anymore, i've fallin in a deep depression and have to be very careful, pulling myself out is hard and I wish I could say it makes you stronger, but again, you only get better at numbing yourself. Hopefully one day when I have a husband, I can give my children all the love I have been holding on to for my mother, and she can be proud of the mother I've become. Jehane will be in my prays. God bless her and her family. May she rest in peace.

I've suffered with migraines since I was 6 yrs old I'm 54. I get Botox now to help. My heart breaks for anyone having to endure the horrible pain of a migraine. I had a sinus infection that caused my brain to become inflamed for 3 months in 2019. I was told over and over and over it was a migraine. I was in the ER 9 times and my neurologist office 8. Finally got a Brain Scan the 3rd month because I didn't want to live anymore. I couldn't live like that. That's when they immediately started an IV of antibiotics.
She definitely should have had a second and third opinion. I feel so hurt for her that in the end she had no one concerned with finding out why she was in excruciating pain that no one can live with

This saddens me so much .I suffer from migraines here and there because of PCOS .Life is so short .I really feel for the family .And as a woman , Health is soooo important .Never allow these doctors to diagnose you and then let u go home .Always get more opinions .Never dismiss the smallest of symptoms .Your body will tell u if there is a problem .This is so sad .
My last migraine was horrific. I feel so heart broken for her family.

Such a sad loss. My prayers go out to her little boys. One bright spot, if you can call it that, is that hopefully the doctors will look harder at the next migraine complaint.

I am so sorry for them, for her. That pain is unimaginable. She fought so hard, and didn't go down without a fight. Those boys will miss her very much. But those boys and everyone who loved her knows she loved them, and that she would want them to be happy, and to carry on for her. Her Legacy lives in everyone she knows, and will always be with them in one way or another.

As i typed this i suspect maybe the pain was so unbearable she self-deleted…
It sounds like a suicide to me. She was dealing with debilitating pain, was probably turned away by doctors, probably felt like a failure of a mother if it made childcare hard, etc..
My thoughts exactly (regarding how Optic Neuritis isn't fatal). My initial thought when hearing her symptoms was that she might have had a brain aneurysm (which is a weakened blood vessel in the brain & can cause severe headaches or migraines due to the way it bulges at the weakened areas). And, in the unfortunate event , should a brain aneurysm rupture (there's 2 types of aneurysms: ruptured and un-ruptured), a ruptured aneurysm can have catastrophic if not fatal effects.

This is so heartbreaking. I am going through something similar with my health right now and doctors have done nothing. I feel like I am going to die soon as well. I hope her family sues the doctors she was seeing as they obviously didn’t provide her with a proper level of care. I am documenting everything I am going through and I told my husband that if I die he needs to sue to hospital.

So very sad!! My cousin had debilitating headaches for 2yrs that got brushed off as normal before she was correctly diagnosed with a brain tumor. She died 5mos after that diagnosis. It wouldn't surprise me if that is what happened here. 😭
