I can identify with Etta. Only I spent seven years listening to a friend whine about the same things. I stopped answering her calls because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings by being brutally honest. After many years, you find that is ALL you are able to speak. I feel so much better not having to worry about and listen to her constant chaos. I had to save myself.

i used to be that friend that always listened but i realised these friends never cared about my life. i stopped talking to them, a few i just ghosted and i never looked back. its so important to have friends that love and respect your time and energy

My mother refuses to acknowledge stuff she did, and she really did do them. Abusers tend to deliberately ignore and forget behaviour that brings them guilt. I believe her

1st story - I truly believe the oldest was beaten with extension cords. Chances are she covered the younger sister so she didn't experience the same abuse.
2nd - she was not a good friend. She only uses her for a sounding board.

This is a very insightful show that provides solutions to many people. If I wasn't far away in Africa, I would write to you Karamo for my childhood and family hurt. Anyway. I benefit from watching about mending old wounds. Keep up the good work

Etta didn't want to hurt her feelings because Michelle comes across as clingy and desperate. Etta has a right to pull away. She's probably drained and exhausted with all the drama.
Etta is giving me "I'm on my high horse" vibes. And Michelle just wants to live it up low vibrational style. They probably mean well but there is a subtle form of harmful selfishness going on between them. It's giving me mean girl vs needy girl.

It's interesting that when a person tries to break away from a toxic cycle, they are deemed as arrogant, cold, indifferent, etc. Our society loves to bully and cast aspersions on issues they are not informed about. Etta eloquently stated why they drifted apart, lifestyle changes, and personality incompatibility. Why does she need to explain herself to the world? Their differences are enough to part ways. It's ok to end things. Toxic people every where!

No wonder you judged Etta as seemingly arrogant. Perhaps, you are a lot like Michelle, rather prone to taking things personal.
1st Case: the mother never hugged or embraced the younger daughter, Barbara. Something is still off with them and the wife’s face from the audience says it all, she even noticed the mom not hugging Barbara, she’s not buying it.
Let’s not forget the comment of her wife being someone that is a “work in progress” and even the wife apologizing to the sister and mom I suspect the wife is either emotionally or physically abusive to the youngest sister

Etta is blunt and no matter how nice she puts it, her friend would still be offended. You make it seem like Etta is responsible for her emotional well-being, in a love relationship with her or her therapist. She isn't. Etta has a life and is probably choosing them over Michelle's turbulent emotions.

Oh my gosh, Etta was on Divorce Court with Judge Star not too long ago!! She seems like a beautiful person inside and out!! Michelle does seem pretty self absorbed and I could totally see her running over Etta in the name of a one-sided catchup. They just have different needs and have different lifestyles. They can part on amicable terms and most keep it moving.

I need to bring my family on this show but I don’t think Karamo’s team would clear our story. I can’t even go to a therapist at 28 years old and be honest with how I’m hurting because they would call the police. Being able to watch stories like this help because this story is similar to mine but only grazes the surface. Also, can they give us that cornbread recipe…? Sorry but I had to say it
My mom whooped all of her children with whatever she got her hands on but it made us better adults we all have a great life and never been to jail. Discipline is needed in the house hold and there's a difference between child abuse and disciplined.
I think those last 2 women could be in a relationship...or maybe that's the problem...one wanted that and one didn't because I just have this feeling. 😆

Then my golden child sister got a muvh more maternal loving mother because she does as shes told. And my mother also refuses to admit the crap she did to me like this mother

the younger sister is playing the victim card too much. The older sister literally said “if there was no abuse then why did we go to foster care and other people have the same reports” The younger sister literally said “idk why” Just because you cant remember the abuse or you may not have been the one to experience it doesn’t mean you get to shut the older sister down when she speaks about her truth. The younger sister wants to have her “truth” heard so bad that she cant be there for her own sister who is clearly deeply damaged by somethings the family wont even acknowledge. The older sister is clearly on some drugs or sum and she isn’t doing a good job explaining herself but from wat i can put together is heartbreaking. Also the wife needs to stay out of it. She is a bully and unnecessary. The older sister clearly only wants a relationship with the sister and they need to respect that. The younger sister wants her wife and family to get along but honestly that isn’t going to happen bc the wife is just as rude and reckless as them. In this case its best to keep them separate to avoid the drama. I wish this family luck.

It’s clear as day that they team up on the bigger one. The sister is trying make them like her wife when it’s clear the wife is the problem too. In order for them to have a relationship with her she want them to have one with her wife and that’s not how the world works.
It's funny... my younger sister and I have totally different views on how we grew up... so crazy!! So we decided to just find a way to relate
I really relate with the second story to because I’ve been put in relationships that was based on there feelings , I’ve recognized that I accidentally attract people that need guidance and advice and I’m more then happy to help people but when the whole relationship is about them and doesn’t have a balance then that’s when I feel like it gets one sided and it slowly morphs into a relationship that feels like I’m a therapist (as she explained so perfectly in my opinion) and it slowly drains me out and sometimes I would catch myself reacting or coping in the way they do . And those are the signs that makes me realize that I have to remove/distance myself from them because I would go down to there level to make me connect wit them in a deeper way but I end up messing up my own growth for I can sympathize with them with them in a deeper way. And especially when the advice that I give out to them is not taken with any consideration or not appreciation , those are the things that makes the relationship draining and it becomes all there problems . It slowly starts to make me feel like I am not heard or appreciated in the way that I thought I was by the actions that they proceed to keep doing . And in no any am I trying to say that I don’t want to be there for my friends but there needs to be a healthy balance and communication to have that will make both sides happy and feel cared for in a equaled way . I know that I haven’t lived a very long time but I realize I attract the people that have to be heard and healed and I’m okay with that giving out that energy because you never know what people are going through and I always say to people to treat people how you would want to be treated if you was in there shoes. But you also have to protect ur energy and urself and try not to lose urself in relationships like that . For me personally it’s hard for me to get out of relationships like that because I feel like I’m hurting them which I never want to do so I am very proud and feel inspired by the way that amazing lady laid out her feelings and didn’t her friend guilt her into staying in the relationship , and karamo is a 100% right for not letting them try to intentionally try to fix things and make a cycle , and he also acknowledged that there can be a natural re-bond if they ever end up back in the same page . LOVE KARAMO❤️, friendships are very spiritual to me and it’s very important to me to be conscious and aware of who I put my energy In to and try to not let it get waste and I’m still struggling to practice that skill of protecting my energy but I am still young and got many more years to get it right . Love the karamo show !!! Love to have these open conversations especially in the comments it feels like I am in a group circle hearing people’s opinions and mindsets abt real scenarios and how to approach them ❤️❤️ keep up the good work everyone !!🫶

Michelle exhausted me in just the few minutes that she was on the show. 😩 She sounds incredibly needy, and even somewhat selfish, and she expects her friends to cater to friendship in the way that SHE deems appropriate. I’ve had a friend like her who wants to tell you everything about their lives ad nauseam, but when it came to me and what I’d been going through, her asking (IF she did), was just a passing courtesy…just as Michelle demonstrated at 38:09. I remember calling her when I was living in Europe years ago, and the entire conversation was her, her her, and by the time we got off the phone I’d barely said anything, and I ended up with a €98 bill. 🤦🏽♀️
Some people don't get it. They demonize Etta like she should not have boundaries. Etta did what most people wish they can do, cut off the cord before it's too late.

I have been here before and it is not a good feeling. It is exhausting when a person dumps on you emotionally and there is no opportunity to share your side on anything. Michele jokingly admitted that she may have listened to Etta for one or two minutes. Who wants to be on the receiving end of that ? I do not think Etta is cold. I believe Etta had up a wall that Michele was not going to come over again and she politely said what she needed to say.

Just because a woman have children doesn't mean she knows how to be a mother because of the things she went through in life and it's hard when nobody thought you anything when you was growing up but hate and envy. We as women has to stayed prayed up and that's still your mother. Regardless of what has happened in your family.

This show is doing something to Karamo. All that messiness is hard to deal with. That's why Iyanla stopped doing her show. That being said, I would love to see Iyanla and Karamo do a special together.

honestly the older sister kinda throws a tantrum when she don’t get the attention that her mom and sister gives her and i feel like that mirrors out how her childhood was , da she didn’t get the attention of space to speak so she has to over react for people can look at her , it’s sad and I hope she can rebuild a healthy relationship with her mother and sister .
I have sickle cell & a family member did some messed up stuff to me which she still won't admit to it or apologize. Nor has she ever simply stated she lied & had her daughters & 5 other fam members come fight me over something I never said or did.
Ladies takes notes! This is what happens when you want to be a friend AFTER divorce etc. You didn't take the forming years and learn to balance friends so you burn some ppl out. I do still think the other friend simply found love & now doesn't need to go out anymore kind of like the other one didn't when she was married & because real fed up real quick because she didn't need her anymore. First off, I love how Karamo isn't like Maury or Jerry Springer (maybe not the best references, but I don't watch a lot of shows like this). He handles things from a mental health standpoint and isn't just about getting something juicy for the camera. I'm new to him, but I just noticed that.
About the two sisters and the mom, boy oh boy, I did not like that every time the older sister opened her mouth to express how she felt, the younger sister got a look on her face like, 'Girl, no one cares.' Is it just me, or do you get sleazy, scam artist vibes from the girlfriend? My entire being screamed 'fraud' the minute she stood up on camera. The fact that she didn't deny massaging the older sister's shoulders but deflected made me shudder.
Also, I won't say the older sister might not be lying, but she made a good point when she said, 'Then why were we put in foster care?' Yes, why then, little sister? Those two girls want their mother's love so much that they compete for it, and the mother chooses whichever daughter is in favor at the moment, which validates that daughter temporarily. That's what I think, at least. I hope they go to therapy and learn to communicate in a calm manner.
Damn Etta is so graceful and elegant and fluent and polished but not plastic… I hope to be like that in my mature age
