    I couldn't be happier with Elena's game today. She dominated from the baseline and completely dismantled Sabalenka's serve. Those returns were world class. Here's hoping she continues this sort of play at the AO as well.

    *Rybakina* didn’t drop a set and lost just 15 games in 5 matches at Brisbane! She dominated all her opponents including world No. 2 Sabalenka in the final. Elena is beginning to realize her full potential. Future No. 1 and more Grand Slams.

      She’s always had the talent. Ever since her tour debut and even her ITF days, she’s always been taped up and playing through injury.
      Let’s hope this is finally the year where she overcomes any physical issues she has had in the past.

      Don't get overexcited, Brisbane is low profile tour. Except Rybakina and Sabalenka none from top 10 played there. She didn't have to face Samsonova, Pegula, Cristea, Jabeur, Haddad Maia, all of them defeated Rybakina last year.
      Sabalenka started the match same way as US Open semifinal where she also lost 0:6 in 1st set to Keys. After 1st set she asked for medical help, obviously she had some issues and I doubt that she played at her 100% as she didn't want to risk one week before AO.

      Rybakina’s calmness will eventually become the most dangerous part about her when she starts to get used to winning tournaments.
      She can be down 3 break points to lose the final and just calmly save all of them when all of the others would have cracked(especially Sabalenka but even Iga in that situation).

  • @xxxxxxxx8634
    @xxxxxxxx8634 Рік тому +157

    That was the best Elena Rybakina i've ever watched! Better even that the Wimbledon 2022 and early 2023 one! She never dominated in matches in this way before. Now she doesn't rely only on her serve, but also on her power game at general, with clearer shots. She needed that first title after Rome so bad, especially after the all injuries and illnesses, with which she struggled for these 7 months. If she continues to play like this, she will stay in top 3 for the whole year and why not even to be no.1 contender?!

    • @piqo44
      @piqo44 Рік тому +1

      Did you actually watched this game ? Sabalenka had left hip/thigh concern, she had to ask for medical help. I don't think that she was 100% fit in this game and having AO in mind i doubt she wanted to risk and win no matter the price. So it can not be Rybakina best performance, AO 2023 final was way more better.

    • @xxxxxxxx8634
      @xxxxxxxx8634 Рік тому +3

      @@piqo44 i talk about the whole tournament performance. Sabalenka played badly, but it's about Rybakina's great performance too. In WTA Finals Sabalenka also played badly, but beat Elena.

    • @tennisobserver995
      @tennisobserver995 Рік тому +5

      @@piqo44 During last year's AO, her finals performance was her worst in the tournament. She did not serve well in that match. I don't buy Sabalenka's medical timeout as due to real physical issues. She was on court for barely 5 hours before the final, and she never had physical issues even in grandslams before. Sabalenka is known to be one of the fittest, if not the fittest athlete in the WTA, no way she's gonna have physical issues in that match. It was a tactical ploy, actually a desperation move by her team to throw Rybakina off her rhythm, after she got broken again in her first service game in the second set as she was in real danger of being double bageled, . And her injury magically disappeared later, it it was real, she wouldn''t be able to chase Rybakina's balls and she would have lost 6-0 6-1

    • @piqo44
      @piqo44 Рік тому

      @@tennisobserver995 So Rybakina can explain her loses with injuries but other can not ? Swiatek in 2022 won 37 games in row, only fittest athletes can do something like this, but at the beginning of 2023 season she for the first time had few health issues. Sabalenka is not robot, she played against Rybakina many times in last couple of months and it was always close game, so I don't buy it that her form suddenly exploded its more likely Saba had bad day. Saba plays great at Australian soil, this lost can only motivate her, on the other hand Rybakina can be over confident.

    This version of Elena Rybakina is scary. She doesn't make as many aces as before but has increased her first serve percentage and is even deadlier on serve. This Rybakina is more patient and constructs points waiting for the perfect moment to unleash her power. She is also a very good returner and a very good volleyer. She needs Iga to keep Gauff at bay for a while to do that because Gauff’s style will be tricky for Rybakina until she learns to move a bit better and add a little more variety.

    No over reaction like leylah after every point or every crucial point. Just so so so cool.
    She smiled after the last point. I smiled too.
