You can try crushing the meds in a smoothie or some other food
She wasn’t eating at all (tummy was upset) so unfortunately that didn’t work. I was putting the powder Tylenol in her yogurt and she spit it out continuously. We tried mixing it in her juice too. It was truly hopeless y’all. Felt like I needed an IV line or sumn 🥹 lol

I have been watching you for years (since my son was diagnosed with autism at 2 years old - he is 5 now) and have been following along with your journey with Ann - since they are so close in age and we were going through these things at the same time. Nothing in this world or life could’ve prepared me for an autistic child who is sick. It surely strengthens your intuition and motherly instincts. They are not doing things that “normal” people do when they are sick. Example, my son was repeatedly jumping off the couch in one specific motion for a whole day. My husband said it was just him playing, but I knew something was off. We ended up in the hospital with a serious infection requiring an overnight stay and an IV. He won’t take medicine either - I have to put it into his applesauce or a smoothie and even then, he can usually taste when it’s in there! I am writing all of this to you just to let you know you are not alone and this is hard! I have many times felt completely alone with my son and having to learn to trust my intuition with him when he has not been able to communicate. Even to the point of arguing with doctors to just do one more test because I KNEW something was wrong. You are an amazing mother and I love watching your videos, knowing there is someone else out there going through these things while still maintaining a mostly “normal” life. I always thought we would never be able to do “normal” things after everything that has happened. You help me realize that my son can still do all the things! Even though it may be harder for me to handle in the moment. I hope Ann gets better soon and that you all have a wonderful holiday❤
Ps. My son also gets sick ALL the time! Way more than any other kid in his class or my friend’s kids. He misses school all the time. He does not mouth anything and never has. I chalk it up to autistic individuals being much more sensitive to everything, therefore they get sick a lot easier than most❤

Vaughn, you did such a real job. That tree looks so professional and the attention to detail in the flocking process, in your holiday decor and each area around the home it's impeccable. I went with a more non traditional color theme of creams, browns, blacks and golds using mostly glass, velvet and furry ornaments. Lots of white lights. My tree topper is a large set of angel wings in memory of my best friend of almost 40 years who passed away suddenly, tragically and at the young age of 49 last summer. The wings and a few memorial ornaments is my way of including her and honoring her memory. The loss weighs heavy on me everyday but I look at those trimmings and it makes me smile. TFS Vaughn. Try adding subtle amounts to her favorite foods and drinks. Just get the ok from her provider to see what meds can be crushed and dissolved. Chocolate milk is good at masking the taste of meds but when dealing with upper respiratory infections you have to be careful bc milk can further thicken those secretions. I am a behavioral health nurse and I have become really creative in getting patients to take necessary meds. Praying that Anne feels better soon.

Greetings from NC. Thank you Vaughn for sharing. This is my very first year decorating a flocked tree. I bought it last year after Christmas. I 86'd my old tree because some of the branches came loose after I got all the decorations on. Any way everything you put out looks very professional. i used many of my pieces also from other rooms. Believe it or not my husband kept asking me "Baby is that new?" I just laugh and keep moving. All he cares about is the finished look which he always declare that I out did myself from last year. My colors are purple, mauve, gold & white. I also put some of the same color balls together in clusters. It's a great look. Blessings to you and the family. Stay safe. 🌲

My daughter has autism and was just recently sick as well. She wasn’t eating but was drinking. A trick that we found out that worked with the medicine was have a towel and juice ready & telling her to swallow. She used to spit out meds all of the time but now she just swallows.

Love the Christmas decor! You did an outstanding job! I also used ornament clusters this year. It made a huge difference. After adding my clusters, I added my accent ornaments, which really made my flocked tree pop! So glad Annie is feeling better. 😊

Maybe try an apple, cinnamon and ginger tea. I usually boil about 3 apples, 3 cinnamon sticks and fresh ginger. I sweeten it with some honey. It reminds me a warm apple cinder but it really helps speed up the recovery of a cold. It can be served warm/hot. She may like that.
