I had scoliosis (corrected) and I have mild NF1. The two are commonly connected. I was diagnosed at age 11 and had a 9 hour operation at age 14. I have titanium rods in my back to keep my spine straight. Luckily the curvature of my spine, despite an S shape, has now been corrected and I’m a healthy 32 year old with no issues. 😊 The surgeon, Dr Evan Davies who did the operation is one of the best in the UK too so I am grateful for that

I have identical twin 3 year old granddaughters, and one of them is just starting physical therapy because she says ouch a lot whenever she walks and wants to be picked up and carried. We were told that she’s very flat footed and her hips need strengthening because when they evaluated her they could tell she walked a bit strange and when she was sitting we were told it seemed like her hips were also bothering her. She does seem to walk on her tip toes at times, but not always. We are getting custom orthopedic inserts made for her shoes and then like I stated above we’re just starting physical therapy.
I’m wondering if something like this could help her and if insurance would cover her treatments. I’m very much looking forward to part two, so I can hopefully learn how we can maybe give her some relief ourselves.
Oh so important to let the child know that he or she can say stop if they are uncomfortable, and to make sure mom or dad stays in the room with them at all times. 👍

My daughter is a Massage Therapist, she does occasionally work on children. She insists on the parent be present in the massage room, it is better for everyone.

They found my scoliosis at 5 which was very rare back then so I'm in alot if the medical journals I wore 3 different types of braces and at age 11 I refused to wear a brace so I had rods put it my spine not only curved but started twisting as well and my orthopedic tried to get me too 16 but since I refused they only fused the top portion and I'm 37 years old now I've had 6 kids but couldn't have epidural and only get discomfort in cold weather
