Sure! Poland used to be much more to the East in the past. At its peak in XVI-XVII century the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth extended till: Riga, Orsha, Smoleńsk, Kiyiv, Kharkov, Zaporizhia.
But you forgot to say that before the events taking place in the game, Poland first occupied the territories of Soviet Russia passing east of Minsk and Kyiv.
