I thought it interesting how Serene mentioned this is predominantly linked to a particular class, a global class if you will. An anxious dysfunctionality builit into a system of human causing paralysis in direction and a nostalgia for an 80's style neo-modernism.
Coming in from "Ill will" review/excerpt of the book. Very struck about our age of saturation with images in fact creating a mass impoverishment of our gift of human intellect. Wonderful stuff.
When Serene states at the end that there are no guarantees, this aligns with thinkers like Rancière, who, in his decentering of traditional political philosophy, dissolves any conceptual guarantees of adequacy for a given situation. In other words, emancipation has no definitive endpoint-it is always ongoing.
Essential Elegant & Exactly what we [if i can assume any we worth perceiving in this day & age] should be deliberating through. Now what? [is exactly the right question] but against what Human Standard.... makes allll the difference [still: undone] Here's to the future, my friends. Hope to See u there
An excellent discussion. The 'no guarantee' chimes with Thomas Nail's oeuvre. Foucault's Biopolitics is both a fascinating disturbing concept. Perhaps Georges Canguilhem is a more important thinker than is realised. A smart being that isn't particularly smart!

I wouldn't mind a 2 hour diatribe about cybernetics, go off, Adam. Wonderful discussion 😊
Great stuff, happy to see more Foucault content
Damnit, y’all got me thinking again

That idea that government makes us more human falls so wrong these days.
In theory - i it could...
In praxis [as is] = "falls so wrong" amen.
