Same here...I always buy up garbage saws from flea markets, yard sales, & pawn shops in order to try new tricks or parts combos on. My favorite is my "PoulStihlVarnaMan". It started life as a 2001 Wild Thing, that got "mo betta parts" as my 4yr old says.
Just as an FYI. From what I've found, an 026/024S piston and cylinder won't work with an 024AV because the stroke is shorter on the 024AV. If you started out with the 024S, then the 026 jug and cylinder should be a direct fit.

It takes patients to chamfer those ports like that. Rare quality good job.
The more you do the better you will get an more you will enjoy it I'm constantly trying new things on my personal builds
