Kan-Etsu Tunnel
The Kan-Etsu Tunnel (関越トンネル) is a tunnel on the Kan-Etsu Expressway in Japan that runs through Mt. Tanigawa from Minakami, Gunma to Yuzawa, Niigata.
The border between Gunma and Niigata Prefectures (Joetsu Border) is the locale of the long tunnel and is also the “climatic boundary” that divides the clear wintery sky of the Pacific Ocean side with the heavy snowfall that blankets the Japan Sea side.
