Sometime in late 2015, for one reason or another, I got Migueword's go-ahead to copy and buff his fantastic 9-star level High Life, resulting in a level that would later be named Low Death by the suggestion of one of his friends. This was around the time when Conical Depression was being built, and Rearmed (still only known as Unarmed) was set to be decorated by him-in other words, before I had any confidence in my ability to create a good level myself. It's riddled with awful, outdated memes, intentionally frustrating gameplay, and various secrets and in-jokes, as that's essentially all this level was ever meant to be: an in-joke. The sheer difficulty of this level at the time, though, combined with the relatively low profile High Life had at the moment, led a lot to believe this was my own originally-conceived level, and much confusion ensued over time. By the time we were far past the joke and I was on to work on more serious projects with miles more effort than this one, a lot of people still wanted to see this level completed and released, despite me on multiple occasions expressing that I wanted nothing to do with it. In late February of 2017, my Geometry Dash account, among many others, was breached, and my password was leaked to the public, giving anyone and everyone access to my account, and that led to some pretty unfortunate events: Most, if not all of my demon levels had secret ways added to them, the original (invisible) M A N I X was deleted, and various unfinished levels, including Black Blizzard and Low Death, were uploaded to my account. I got in contact with RobTop to sort the first couple things out, but there wasn't much he could do about the last problem. In secret, there have been many times where I'd come back to trying to beat the level, just in case there was a chance or reason it'd happen. Come January of this year, a lot of the hype had finally died down, and I found the time and motivation to jump back into it, with the motivation of an actual deadline: April 1st. I figured there's no better day to release a level that serves only as a joke; an infamous one. Under the pseudonym "Gangnam Style," I gave updates to Migueword among other friends of mine to keep the internal excitement up, and on March 5th, 2020, at 11:30 EST, what you see in this video happened. As for whether this level should be rated: I do not know. Ultimately it's just a buffed and destroyed copy of someone else's level, and its difficulty doesn't really mean much today either, but there's undoubtedly a lot of history and excitement and behind it either way. During a 2016 stream, I recall at some point Rob said he'd rate it if it came out, but that was so long ago, it's no big deal if he doesn't-standards and expectations are higher now. Sometime in late 2015, for one reason or another, I got Migueword's go-ahead to copy and buff his fantastic 9-star level High Life, resulting in a level that would later be named Low Death by the suggestion of one of his friends. This was around the time when Conical Depression was being built, and Rearmed (still only known as Unarmed) was set to be decorated by him-in other words, before I had any confidence in my ability to create a good level myself. It's riddled with awful, outdated memes, intentionally frustrating gameplay, and various secrets and in-jokes, as that's essentially all this level was ever meant to be: an in-joke. The sheer difficulty of this level at the time, though, combined with the relatively low profile High Life had at the moment, led a lot to believe this was my own originally-conceived level, and much confusion ensued over time. By the time we were far past the joke and I was on to work on more serious projects with miles more effort than this one, a lot of people still wanted to see this level completed and released, despite me on multiple occasions expressing that I wanted nothing to do with it.
In late February of 2017, my Geometry Dash account, among many others, was breached, and my password was leaked to the public, giving anyone and everyone access to my account, and that led to some pretty unfortunate events: Most, if not all of my demon levels had secret ways added to them, the original (invisible) M A N I X was deleted, and various unfinished levels, including Black Blizzard and Low Death, were uploaded to my account. I got in contact with RobTop to sort the first couple things out, but there wasn't much he could do about the last problem. He tried to soften the blow by deleting copies of the leaks I'd send him, but by that point a lot of people already had them saved and ready to put right back up, so it was a fairly pointless and hopeless battle to fight. The best we could do was hope people wouldn't abuse it. Ha...
Over time you'd often see me mock or tease those who still wanted to see this level out, because I had come to accept that I'd never get it off my back. Various video gags, me posting a status saying I deleted the level, and plenty of outside drama I'm sure at least some of you are familiar with, all culminated in what was probably a total mess of confusion on this level for anyone that hadn't been following my channel for that long. In secret, there have been many times where I'd come back to trying to beat the level, just in case there was a chance or reason it'd happen. Come January of this year, a lot of the hype had finally died down, and I found the time and motivation to jump back into it, with the motivation of an actual deadline: April 1st. I figured there's no better day to release a level that serves only as a joke; an infamous one. Under the pseudonym "Gangnam Style," I gave updates to Migueword among other friends of mine to keep the internal excitement up, and on March 5th, 2020, at 11:30 EST, what you see in this video happened.
As for whether this level should be rated: I do not know. Ultimately it's just a buffed and destroyed copy of someone else's level, and its difficulty doesn't really mean much today either, but there's undoubtedly a lot of history and excitement and behind it either way. During a 2016 stream, I recall at some point Rob said he'd rate it if it came out, but that was so long ago, it's no big deal if he doesn't-standards and expectations are higher now. Either way, I hope those of you who were somehow still waiting for this will get all the enjoyment out of it that you can; I'm certainly happy to be done with it. And since I've been asked a lot, yes, this is a legitimate completion; the April Fools joke was just premiering the video with the title and thumbnail reading "Gangnam Style."
