- In this video, I test out the new QIDI Tech Q1 Pro 3D printer. I get it set up and print out some functional parts to improve the workflow of my shop. I use 3D printed parts in combination with fiber laser cut parts and CO2 laser cut parts to make some improvements to my CNC mill and desktop CNC lathe.

Wow what a nice shop. I am currently trying to save up enough money to buy this printer and I have about 300 dollars saved up now but I don't know how long the early bird sale will last and I won't get anymore money until June. Might want to throw some resin into anything that's PLA and will be subject to machine coolant. I had some parts in my metal cutting bandsaw for a while (coolant capture and filtering of chips), and the layers began to disadhere over time.
Thanks for sharing your shop setup and working process. It's cool the way you integrated 3D printed parts with cut wood and metal, but I have to ask if you could have made the collet holder out of mostly mdf by gluing multiple layers and make it much quicker? I want a 3D printer but the time it takes to make parts makes me think it's only practical for intricately curved parts like the feed of the collet holder. Thoughts?
Sure, I could have made a design entirely out of stacked MDF, but I think it would actually take longer to be ready by the time you clamp it and let the glue dry. Also something to consider about 3D printing time, is that it's hands-off, I can be working on something else while it's printing. It only takes a couple minutes to slice the file, load filament, and press go. For all MDF, I would have had to spend more of my time doing the glue up, sanding, and clean up. That's how I've ended up with so many machines...it's nice to have the right tool for the job when you need it : )
@@diyfiberlaser I was actually just thinking of creating the multiple layers with a several holes where you can drop in a 1/8" bolt and nut, clip off the end of the bolt if necessary and now your piece is solid. There's also EVA foam that you can laser cut and this would be strong enough to keep the thickness and quick to produce.

You're a genius...... You're able to do everything I want to learn to do! Subscribed, I've never owned or used a 3D printer but was thinking about buying this one to be my first to learn on. Your prints really look amazing too, would you recommend it as a first time printer?
Yes, it's the easiest printer I've ever used and I'm getting great quality prints from the default print settings
Nice video ... but ... and this is not intended as a complaint about your video, just something I feel I should post somewhere ... There's just TOO MANY VIDEOS ON THE Q1 PRO currently! I get that everyone has held back until the release date, but it's a bit ridiculous that suddenly there are dozens if not hundreds of videos with almost the same take on the Q1 Pro. I feel that this is not making it come out better, but is rather making me tired of it even before considering a purchase. I have the feeling Qidi just overdid it. Even at the launches from Bambu I didn't feel this much overloaded at once ...
I know what you mean, they apparently went for heavy media saturation...I imagine every 3D printer company has been feeling the squeeze ever since Bambu came on the scene

I'm trying to expand my audience to 3D printing enthusiasts as well, because it's a large part of what I do. Don't worry... I have another DIY fiber laser cutter project in the works!
Totally unnecessary comment. The video was great and it was really refreshing to see mechanical/functional parts being made instead of decorative models so many others focus on. New subscriber.
