Been a driver for 8 years. Big help! I like it. Gave me a few ideas. I'm thinking I'm probably going to cut out some carpet to lay over the plastic flooring. All of the food bits, dirt, sand, hair/skin shedding are my biggest problem over the road. That way I can just fold it up take it outside and beat the grime out of it. Also... spills will end up in the carpet rather than in the corners into the foam underneath the plastic flooring. A worn out rug can be easily replaced. Especially convenient for a company driver like me. I like your bed table idea! Though, I'm thinking I might just sleep on the top bunk and keep my mini deep freezer on the bottom bunk with the toaster-oven, hotplate, and other gear while I sleep up top. Though I need to figure out a way to keep myself from rolling off. Even though the truck ain't going no where, my dumb self will find a way to roll off that bunk. Comment if you have any solution for this?
Cool great content. I recently picked up a folding table from Walmart. Open it fits perfect on the passenger side. I set one side padded on dash and the other on a cooler in the seat. It gives me a counter top to chop veggies. Etc. When you want a place to move things it a good size table to get things out of the way. I have bungied coffee maker around setback.
This was very useful, thank you. I'm looking into getting my CDL soon and I'm trying to cram all the nitty-gritty down-to-earth trucking. Helpful "how to live in a small space" tutorial vids like this are exactly what I want to see. I'll be getting accustomed to driving OTR and handling a big rig, so any area where I can learn from someone else's experience and not have to reinvent the wheel means that's one less worry.
I like that shelf over the bed. Did the same thing in my 2018 International LT. Single bunk with a low roof, I also put a wooden shelf across the back wall of the bunk that holds the toaster oven and all my Cheerios. My Coleman fridge goes on the lower shelf over my feet and I also have enough space on it for my coffeemaker or meal prep. Without all my additions, I have a 36 inch bed and two small shelves and maybe 14 inches from the bed to the back of the drivers seat. I’m only out one week. I’d really like to see how you cook. I have a George Forman but it’s slow. I’m thinking I’d like to use a butane stove and frying pan. Faster. Or maybe an electric frying pan. I have 2 milk crates that are for storage, and stackable, with a specially fitted wooden seat on top for a stool, I can eat my meals at my wooden shelf kitchen area, and lean back against the drivers seat edge. I also put a sliding shelf under the shelf that I can pull out and support with a couple of sticks to give more counter room. The milk crates will also double as a stair stepper workout if I want. Thanks for the video. I’m looking for quick and easy ways to cook healthy, real food, during my 10 hours off, and ways to exercise. Thanks for the video. Keep posting.
What a great video thanks for all the great tips the only problem I have is nothing will stick in my truck no hooks no command hooks nothing will stick how in the world did you get anything to stick
Love the ideas I drive a 2012 freightliner 13spd and having space is always good my wife found pen holder for the visor on Amazon and it works great and drove with it down on the I 10 east and west bound and the roads are rough and my pens did not fall I highly recommend a pen holder from Amazon they are 7.99 a piece. Let me know if you can't find it I'll help you out and thanks again for the ideas
Hey man. Great ideas, gonna steal some. Idk about your truck but underneath the fridge, there is an open space. Idk if you can pop that panel off. Somewhere to put water.
BRMDT portable toilet for camping on Amazon. And thank you for the tips I never thought I’d say this but I prefer to crap and eat in my own truck after being on the road for a year. I do the same thing I crap in a bag and then I throw it into any bagged trashcan. And thanks for the laugh as well I know how frustrating it can be when something falls over or skills/breaks while you’re driving I can just imagine your reaction LOL
I cut my paper towel sheets into 4 separate sections and stack them. I found most of the time I don’t need full or half sheets with select a size paper towels. Makes paper towel rolls last a lot longer. For those that don’t want to buy a stand alone GPS there is a free GPS for trucks for your phone, the application is called “Hammer” it’s a full featured application. You can test it out and it is free to use. You have to register the application in the beginning just like many other applications, there are no drawbacks to this registration process, no advertising etc etc. I highly recommend this from my experience with it. I listen to a lot of music while driving from my stereo. Both UA-cam and Apple Music. During my down time I use headphones. I have the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. They are full featured with the companion Sony application downloaded on your phone. Both Wired and Bluetooth over the ear. These are highly recommended in UA-cam headphone reviews.
Did I hear you say maverick?? They gave me an 18 cascadia and the floor plan of it is exactly like yours. So I'm definitely stealing the shelf idea because I absolutely hate dealing with getting the microwave in that cubby hole 😒
Hey Brian, my reply to this on the other video must not have hit your radar. 2 months is the magic number. Mav matches 50% up to $1500 per year for up to 3 years. Thanks for the question! Here's some more info- www.maverickusa.com/media-center/blog/posts/maverick-announces-401k-match-for-all-maverick-employees/
anyone have a lead on the fold out toilet seat that is shown in this video? must say id think itd be a great improvement to a truck. good call. 10:15 in video thank you
No sir. That was a deal breaker for me with TMC. Maverick has forward facing cameras which are activated if you're following too close or get into an accident.
I was wondering how you get under your bed but, I see now. Have you considered just raising your built table vertically to be even with your shelf and microwave. 🤔
Hello. I purchased trucking software that you can keep track of everything involved in your business but do you put it on a laptop or just use your phone? Asking because I see you can email shippers/recievers or message brokers? I’m going to run local and go home everyday so would I even need to do any work on my device with the software on the truck? I plan once in awhile doing out of state runs for health of the engine and my personal wants. Thanks for your time for your insight.
I was approved for orientation for Maverick a few weeks ago...was told by recruiter that I was on a waiting list...probably start in January...I did a lot of research and decided Maverick was where I wanted to work...I have other companies interested in hiring me... My question is ...do I have a good chance of at least making it to orientation with Maverick...I'm afraid that I will ignore any other job offers and then never hear from Maverick!... Also I live in Michigan also...by Detroit.

Whirlpool makes a 15 inch wide microwave that fit perfect for the smaller freightliner cabinets
That trash can under the bunk was really good
Appreciate the tips thank you sir. Keep rolling safely 🇺🇸

As long as my Taylor 814ce is in the truck i'm golden!
Thank you for the info, great video. How long do you have to work at Maverick before you can contribute the the 401k?

Looking forward for the weight training video man !
Great hacks! Thanks!
Couple questions. How do you stay fit? And how do you have internet inside of the truck
You might want to try some, Velcro just to keep things together.
How did you secure the wood to decide of the cabinet
WHat garmin gps did u get? the one with the dash cam installed? did you ever do a video on it?

How long have you been OTR? dude you need a break!!! I keep cooking stuff in my truck but damn I'm only out 1week at a time.
I was wondering how you get under your bed but, I see now. Have you considered just raising your built table vertically to be even with your shelf and microwave. 🤔
Can we get a demonstration of how you use your emergency facilities in your truck? 😂😂
Thank you!!!!
I really liked the shelf over the bunk. I can see my height (or lack of) will make for more storage area than some of you tall men.

Make your house a home. Looks like you got it figured out driver.
OMG my truck is embarrassing!
Hey that’s a better idea for a toilet than shitting in your hand with a napkin
Nice video but a lot of unnecessary weight. Think like a backpacker
Stop saying uhhhhhh
He’s a trucker not a Ted talk presenter.
