What some people dont realize..charles will to win is at an all time high. He went from being okay with taking a loss when he was in trouble....to giving everything humanly possible to stay in fight and win.

The reason he got hurt his last 3 fights is because hes walking down and stalking and putting himself in the firefight against quite literally the 3 biggest and best punchers in the division.

He’s one of my favorite fighters but eventually someone’s going to take him out if he keeps taking those shots. He’s pretty amazing the way he keeps the relentless pressing with elbows, knees, kicks and strikes and his ground game is exceptional. Notice when he drops an opponent he doesn’t go in with strikes to finish them like all the others do. He goes right to his jujitsu. Nobody like him imo. Another thing is he’s eyesight is POOR. How can you be so damn good when you can’t see for shit?

Man How can anyone hate Dustin Poirier. Such a gentleman of the sport. Always fun to watch.
Oliviera is a warrior and his determination is inspiring, something i’ve always loved about Poirier is that he’s never ever been scared of anyone in front of him, that’s one of the most underrated characteristics of a fighter is their courage, respect to both men.

One of my favorite fights of all time, the first round insane pace, the second most technical and the third icing on the cake

He dominated Charles in the stand up, but Charles is the best submission artist IN THE HISTORY OF THE UFC. Poirier vs Gaethje 2 would end up like the first one, I think. I know it won't happen soon but I'd rather see either Poirier or Gaethje against Fiziev. That dude's a fucking beast in his own right.

This was my first ufc card. Everyone rooting for Dustin but I believed in Charles. Charles has been my favorite fighter since.
He completely broke Dustin's will in the 2nd rd. Dustin looked completely soul sucked and broken coming out for the 3rd. Charles is so slick.nHis transitions are so smooth and quick. All that experience from coming in so young to the UFC. He's got such a savage squeeze. That shredded lanky power.

That first round was way closer than I remember. Dustin looked at the clock with 1:19 left in the first round. Charles’s pressure is absolutely unmatched. Made Chandler tired. Made Dustin tired. Made Justin tired. All in the first round. WILD he’s a betting underdog again.

Watching this fight a 2nd time around now, I think those body shots, but especially the knees, did a number on Poirier in Round 1. I noticed he took a few big breaths and there was an occasion where he turned away from Charles. He took the round but I suspect he was losing steam fast. Once Charles put him on the mat in the 2nd, the jiujitsu might have depleted those remaining reserves forcing him to just stay on his back and conserve.

I think Dustin had some chances to finish Charles in round 1 but those knees had stopped him. Dustin could made more pressure, raised some combo to end the champ but he had to run away and took some deep breath because of damage from the knee.

У него стиль такой, постоянный прессинг. Не боится идти в размен, дает вымахаться сопернику, потом уничтожает. Голова работает отлично, даже после сильных пропущенных ударов, четко знает, что и как делать.

Olivera is my favorite fighter. His skills are so polished.
Выстоять после таких попаданий в голову и продолжать атаковать в стойке и потом еще и переводы делать это, конечно, уровень. По выносливости Чарльз не уступает Тони, но при этом еще и дерется умнее. Тони расшвыривался во все стороны и бился в открытую, вытаскивая в основном на выносливости и нестандартных выкрутасах, Оливейра более грамотно выбирает моменты, когда бросаться вперед. Более универсального бойца в легком весе просто нету.
Челюсть у него крепкая, но если он так будет рубится с Гэджи, то это будет идиотская идея… тут челюсть не проканает, хоть у него и офигенная стойка, он оч сильно открывается, а с таким рубакой как гэджи и с таким ведением боя можно очутиться в вальхалле

I’m fairly new to UFG been catching up on old fights here on UA-cam, and I gotta say the respect these 2 have for each other is something else. Dude literally betting the shit outta each other and still show respect between rounds. Definitely one of my favorite fights I’ve caught up on.

I forgot how wild the first round of this fight was. Olivera just walking DP down and eating jab and hook, and tagging Dustin with power shots of his own. Fucking bananas
You make it sound like it was a dominant round for Oliveira lol. That round was a clear round for Dustin. Knocked Charles down 3 times, landed more overall strikes AND landed the most damaging strikes. Charles was definitely impressive in how he was able to recover and win the fight but he nearly got finished 3 separate times in that first round

Before the fight, the other fighters told Dustin that he was already the true and undisputed Champion, and that was just a matter of time he had to arrive on the day of the fight and defeating Charles... Charles do Bronx shocked the world.
Charles did not shock the world beating dustin, it was fucking obvious, almost common sense that he won that fight. Ppl just like to underestimate fighters, specially in MMA

@@dmnd173 problem is that Charles had to know English. If he had better English people would know him more, empathize, and like the guy. Brazilian fighters are so silly not training their English as much as their fighting skills, because in UFC you only get money if you bring ppv, and the main market is the US. Look at Paulo Costa, people loves him in the US, his English is not the best, but the guy tries and his trash talk is top notch. Hope Charles start being respected as he should be.

I love the level of sportsmanship that Oliveira displays. If you notice, at 14:08 when Dustin taps, Charles let go of the choke before Herb Dean actually stopped it.
