- "Look at UA-cam, you get videos of kittens getting billions of views overnight. Things spread in a completely different way nowadays compared to 20 years ago, even 10 years ago, when bands were totally dependent on a strong marketing strategy from the labels. Now things spread by themselves - if it's good enough." - Olof Wikstrand, Enforcer
It was a pleasure meeting Olof Wikstrand, frontman of Swedish heavy metal powerhouse Enforcer, and talk about the state of the music world. He elaborated on the ups and downs of young bands and shared his views on old-school and new-school marketing tactics.
Hands down, FAVORITE metal band of all time
I really, REALLY like Enforcer as well. One of the best live bands I’ve seen in recent years, and all their albums are simply awesome! / Sebi
Saw them in Worcester, AMAZING
"Use the advantages of your own time" great advice. This interview is a music business course 101. OLOF is right on with all he says. I wish OLOF and ENFORCER the utmost best of success ! Now to Queensryches EN FORCE and maybe some awesome Rage For Order. Thank you !
Didn't realize how big Enforcer is. Should be touring with Iron Maiden.
+Allen Ellsworth Hi Allen. I feel Enforcer is an underrated metal act. Have seen them play live in front of about 1000 people and their performance was impeccable if not even stellar. Love the band! / Sebi
Holy fuck that is the smartest strategy to develop a fanbase I have ever heard.
Yeah, Olof crafted quite the plan. Smart approach. /Sebi
Artists feel there is a constant need to push boundaries and often try to go into areas for the purpose of changing things which tends to push them into areas no-one has gone because they are bad ideas. ENFORCER creates a new product within the bounds of things that have pretty much been perfected. It works and will exist over several generations. I'm waiting for a rap, polka, metal, reggae band to come out as a new sound. It will appear, have a small following among those who think they are trendy or that pain must mean they are experiencing some epiphany and then it goes onto the trash heap of history.
Well his hair lookes like James hetfield in metallica's old days and the moustache lookes like the late cliff burton and the speaking is like Lars Ulrich!!! So can we predict that enforcer will be the next Metallica?? Who knows??
😄 You might be on to something 👍 / Sebi
Going to see them again in a few months. Going to be sweet
Hoping to see them sometime soon live. Great live band. / Sebi

his hair days are over
The interviewer continues to talk about CD sales and how that works in today's world in relation to Enforcer. Very repetitive.
Sadly, he hates 80's metal, and here I thought he would Revive it. What a shame.
what?
What makes you think he hates 80's metal?
If youre on his facebook all he does is talk about 80s bands& new bands that are reviving that and such
That's what I dont understand at him that he hates new bands....bitch please his band or their band is maximum 7-8 years old....besides e.g a 2000's metal band Enforcer is a NEW band.....if they will be 20 years old they will be an older one bit now?..... Interesting thinking. I have no problem with him btw but everyone plays that music what they want (it can be any type..from the classic to the modern beats)...Unnecessary to critisise others. "Opinion is like a butt hole everyone have it."
He actually praises and shares a lot of new bands. I dont know what youre up in arms about. But also, a lot of modern metal bands actually are shit. So yeah
