Skinny Medic, I’ve been through severe Ulcerative Colitis and know a lot of what your son Gage is going through. If there was one piece of advice I can give you… it’d be to have Gage tested for the MTHFR gene mutation. I can almost guarantee you this is not on many GI doc’s radars. Once I got on methylated B vitamins, my ulcerative colitis went away with normal blood scores. I had struggled to maintain weight up until I got on the B vitamins. It was scary how fast I lost weight and how hard it was to gain it back. Now I have 0 problems maintaining weight.
May the Lord's peace and supply be with you and your family.
Glad things are looking up! Been praying for you all.
Praise God, thank all the medical staff, and wish your family peace, health and health.🍀🍀🍀
Sending healing prayers for Gage. Thanks for keeping us posted. ❤ Stay strong, Mom and Dad! ❤
That lady loves you. You can tell by the way she looks at you.
Good to hear he is putting on the weight. You got this Gage!
So pleased I caught this. You've been in my prayers at every step. You're courage and strength as a family has been so evident throughout this time. Gage, you got this dude. Peace, prayers and love from the UK
Continued prayers , thanks for the update , God bless !
Wow. JDietrich I really feel for you and your family. I can just tell you that I have been through so many of the same things you guys have been through with my wife after she had a number of surgeries over a period of several years. I had to learn how to be a part time, and sometimes full-time medical caregiver to a person that I cared about, and still hold down a job, which was insanely difficult sometimes. I remember, falling asleep, sitting in my car when I would pull up into the driveway after having been all over the place and coming home from work. Sometimes I felt like I was walking out the door meeting myself coming in the door. I had to learn all kinds of things like how to sterilize and swap over IV lines when my wife had a pic line installed. I remember having to help her. Pour all the cartons of TPN into the bag and having to unhook one bag and hook up another one and get the pump primed. Having to wrestle with that stupid rolling IV stand, but always wanted to collapse. I remember one time she accidentally pulled the pic out in her sleep, which scared the heck out of all of us. So many times I had to leave work early or go into work late. So many times I had to get some sleep in my car. So many times I had to get neighbors to look after our children. In the end, what did not kill us made us all stronger. We went through this for several months and it was physically, mentally, emotionally draining. I have so many people in my life that have had medical issues, and I have tried to be there for them as well, including my aunt, who recently passed away from cancer and my mother, who recently found she has cancer and had to have biopsies and different procedures to remove the cancerous tumors. Between all of those things happening I had to help my two teenagers that were really struggling with a number of issues in school. One of them has a learning disability so that’s a challenge. Recently,my ex-wife had some issues that have caused her to have more medical problems that were similar to the ones from last year and 6 months ago as her blood levels are way off, then this week I had a complication from dental surgery, and I am fighting off an infection. Yesterday afternoon was headed out the door on my way to work, and got a little lightheaded and tripped, and fell downstairs. On my way to the car ended up, giving myself a banged up knee and hand and a severe strain in my quadricep muscle with a hematoma trapped under there, so it’s very sore and stiff and I can’t walk, which is a big part of my job working in security as an officer. So trust me when I tell you that you guys are not alone and having your issues. I have been thinking about you guys and praying for you all and for Gage. Having been through these things before, I am so glad that he is back with you and that you guys are looking to the Lord for help. Everything that is happening right now and all of the stuff that is yet to happen next year is going to be so crucial for us to have our personal relationship with the Savior. That’s why I’m just not letting this phase me. I’m trying to keep my spirits up. I’m bummed out that I can’t go to work and do my job, I’m bummed out that I can’t see that much of my kids right now. I’m bummed out that I have to stay on painkillers and muscle relaxers right now and let my body heal. But I am so happy that I have everything that I have. I am most happy but I have a relationship with the Lord. Y’all stay safe and stay sane. I’ve been where you guys are, God bless you. Before you know it, your routine will be swinging back-and-forth like a grandfather clock pendulum.
I hate PIC lines. My son was on TPN for a couple years. After about a month they put in a CVL. So much better and easier. No worrying about it being pulled out. But my son was 3yrs. old. God bless.
We are with you in positive uplifting. The body is mostly water and water will respond to positive input. God is positive and so are we that things will work out. My best to you guys.
I've had stomach and intestinal problems all my life. My real problems did not start until I was in my 40s. In 2000 I had a nissen fundoplication that somewhat helped but did not wholly elevate my issues. I still take medicine and get routine checks up and I have learned to live with the problem as best as I can. I'm now 75 and can do pretty much what someone my age would normally do.
I pray the young man first get relief from his pain and has a full recovery.
So happy to see this as you all have been on my mind! Continuing to send you all Ease and Grace, Love, Light, Comfort and Laughter and asking for you to have continued Strength and Healing. 🙏 Glad your surrounded by such wonderful and compassionate Family and Friends! 😺 Thank you for taking time to update. i think of you often and wish i could do more...(BTW, your Christmas tree is beautiful! 🎄)

104# is an awesome benchmark... keep putting on those hashtags gage 👊
First, you both are so cute together! The way you look at one another just shows the love for each other and the concern for your son. Second, thanks for the update, again, I've been wondering how he's been doing. I am glad the prayers and positive energy has been helpful and continues to be helpful. He has the best caregivers ever... The parents! Lastly, I'll continue to send positive energy to Gage for complete healing. 🙏
Thoughts and prayers are with you all... Merry Christmas!
Thanks for posting an update. Prayers continue for you all from here in Canada! USCA👊
Sending more Prayers.
Remistart!!! Your part of the meditation is $5. Best of luck.
I am so glad to hear he is doing better god bless you and keep you strong
You got this Gage!
Stay in the fight guys you all got this
thank you for the update now I know how to pray better
Stay strong. Merry Christmas!
Glad to see you guys doing well. 👍
🙏
So thankful he can receive TPN at home!! Loving those cheeks too 😁
I think MUSC is the best place for children. They were great with my daughter.
YAY! Been waiting for this.
Your son has the best parents around. This team is destined to win this battle. Ain't no doubt about it.
Soli Deo Gloria.
Hey skinny medic God bless you and your family merry x Mas and happy new year! From big jeff
Dietrich being a paramedic is probably also helping since he can do some of things the nurses like inserting the needles and such
GOD BLESS
The two best caregivers I know. Hope MJ is better too. Still interceding.
Please, please, please look into fecal transplant for the c-diff... I cannot stress enough how bad this is and how you can heal it with a fecal transplant. I have very personal experience with this and would more than love to tell you more in public or private or whatever. This is a very recent experience for me and I just want you all to be well.
They got more than they need.
🤣🤣🤣 don't worry about it, y'all. You guys have been through a rough start. And it IS a START. People need to recognize that, but I guess the healthy often struggle to understand the unwell.
I hope he got that shirt okay. I wasn't able to add a message through Amazon, but I hope he liked it. Starwars JEDI: Survivor just got it's full announcement and there were some cool leaks. I hope he got to see that. Gonna be a rad game!
God bless you guys! And God bless Infusion nurses! (Remicade for me was $60K/dose!! It's CRAZY, but the discount cards make it accessible! I think Remistart is what I used? Something like that.)
If Remicade doesn't seem to be the right fit for Gage, I am currently on Simpony Aria, and that's working for my disease. It also doesn't take nearly as long to infuse. I believe it also has a discount card.
He loved the shirt!!!! Thank you!
