So yeah this is basically a modern day children lost in the woods fairytale, like Hansel and Gretel. It's rare these days to see a fairytale based media that's not some "me too" of Shrek, and so seeing one without any irony and on Cartoon Network at a time when they were stamping out dramatic content was is and always will be a massive plus
This cartoon is a love letter to 1800’s America. There are lots of little nods to the time period. The title comes from the homestead days when there was nothing but wildness beyond your front yard.
I hadn't known much about OTGW when I was young but I noticed that it was on one day and decided "what the hell, may as well see what it's about". I have never regretted that decision. Over the Garden Wall is a genuine masterpiece of animation and storytelling. You won't be disappointed. “Sometimes I feel like I’m just like a boat upon a winding river, twisting toward an endless black sea. Further and further, drifting away from where I want to be. Who I want to be.”
Not sure if I'd call it more adult than Gravity Falls, it has moments where it's more childish than Gravity Falls and at other times it's darker, it has an interesting balance, though I guess I'd agree the overall vibe is a bit darker. Really good show in any case.
@@metacat3106 yeah but at least Greg is like the good kind of childish, like he's a good kid, but Mable... sure she's cute sometimes and funny but the selfishness just gets to me and makes me groan
Oh hell yes! I'm so looking forward to this series! I love Over The Garden Wall, and watching other people react to it is like reliving what it was like to watch the series for the first time, when I had no idea what I was in for ~
I hope they eventually react to infinity train, they should also check out an anime show called Made in Abyss (you should definitely watch it if you're into horror, fantasy, Lovecraftian styled shows)
Hey guys once you finished watching the series check out a video talking about the similarities of otgw and Dante’s inferno I will say nothing else except that it makes u think
I wasn’t really a quite the show to gravity falls it’s similar and it’s animation and also some of the type of continent has but it’s more like an artistic modern telling of a dark fairytale

Alternative title: The Adventures of Frodo Baggins and Lincoln Loud
But seriously, THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT!!!
This mini series is great. It really feels like an old timey fairy tale.
The classic or the Disney?
@@chancebarker8129 classic

It has that Brothers Grimm vibe
Gravity falls is a dip into the beyond. This is drowning in it.
Lol no it's not more childish than gravity falls, gravity falls had Mable, end of story
@@jasonsfeverdream Sure, but like the school episode is pretty childish overall, but most of the others have a lot of darker themes mixed in.

I took the overall theme from this show and based a monster on it. My players are currently exploring nowhere as we speak.
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS
They probably already finished reacting to this series but I wanted to say that they should pay attention to every detail in each episode
Totally forgot about this show! Watched the first two or three episodes when I was a kid but never got around to finish it.

This is an amazing series and I'm glad it ended the way it did instead of being dragged on.
