  • Two is not a perfect square Which means there is not a whole number multiplied by itself that equals 2. For example, the square root of 4 is 2 because 2 x 2 = 4
The square root of 2 is an irrational number.
Here it is written out 65 places,
    1.41421356237309504880168872420969807856967187537694807317667973799,
but most of the time you should be ok using 1.4142.
The square root two can be represented as a fraction as 99/70
The square root of 2 is equal to the length of the hypotenuse of an isosceles right triangle with legs of length 1.

0:36 - no, it cannot (maybe just partially) because it is irrational, which means it cannot be, by definition, expressed as a ratio (fraction)…

How do you come up with the 1.41 without using a calculator?

They make it up... it would be 1x1 but they made 1 a neutral number for multiplication.

The square root of 2 or 1.141 etc doesn't even equal 2.
It will forever be decimals behind.

So b × 1.4142 is always equal to the long length of A paper and this ratio allows for the paper to be infinitely folded widthwise and maintain the same ratio. I wonder why they would use this ratio especially since it's not seemingly related to the hypotenuse. I'm thinking that there is a Universal usage for this ratio beyond it being the hypotenuse. I guess it has to do with infinite scalability? This is very interesting to me because I've been researching the Pythagorean theorem for about a week as it relates to physics. I feel like the √2 is used in physics beyond it being the hypotenuse of a right triangle with legs equal to one. I have more feelings about physics than knowledge but that's ok cause I think feelings are the foundation of physics. 🤗

So, what is the square root of 2% squared. The answer that I've been given is 1.41%. I'm not following. If 2% squared is .0004 and the square root of .0004 is .02 how can the answer be 1.41% instead of 2%?

If you squared that irrational number it would be 2
      √1 = 1 cuz if you squared 1 is also 1
      √4 = 2 cuz if you squared 2 you get 4
      but 2 is quite different

The answer you have been given is false ,my boy. 2% is 0.02 and for numbers under 1 ,there are other rules given. The square root of 0.02 is 0.14... ,because we need to add another 0 ,which is why the number must be smaller than 1! The answer for your question hereby is 14.something percent!

There is no whole number that equal 2.... so it has to be 1.414..
    Ummmm 1 x 1 would equal 2 if they didn't make it equal 1.
1x1 equal 2 makes more sense than
    1.414 x 1414 = 1.9999396. 😅
