Do you know what Bob? After seeing this video (amongst many others, but this one was the ultimate catalyst), I went out and purchased a T6.1 Caravelle. Best car I have ever owned. I absolutely love it. Your video was the final push I needed to make the decision. I thank you wholeheartedly for this. I use it to tow a twin axle caravan and it's utterly brilliant. Oh.... and I've called it Scooby Doo. Really, I have. And I always say it the way you do in this video. Thanks again buddy!
Great review. After 30 years of driving T4 Caravelles, both straight Caravelle and the Multivan I treated myself to a T6 in retirement. Love the thing, with Grandkids it is a real family wagon.
I used to own a 2006 Caravelle 2.5 a few years back. It was a great car. Trips to France and the UK were a doddle with it. Great comfort and loads of room. The only problem was the running costs here ijn Ireland. Road tax was just over €1,000 And fuel economy wasn't amazing. Had it for 3yrs and then bought a 2008 Ford Galaxy (yaaaaaaawn). I recently bought a 2015 Kia Sorento and I love it. The 6 of us went to France during the summer, full car, full roof box and It was perfect. If I could afford a newer Caravelle again it would be one to consider in a few years.
I drove loads of older 5 cylinders from the 90s when I was a taxi driver. Even when they were approaching 300,000 miles, they were smooth and torquey, and did 30 mpg all day, and took loads of girls from Downpatrick to Dundalk no problems at all
Nice review Bob. Ahh, brings back memories of my T5 Caravelle 2.5, how pleasing it was to drive (though the high seating position at first felt like driving sitting on the roof of my Golf..) and how the kids enjoyed being in their space in the back. Truly wonderful family 'car'. But the running costs were pretty steep, and an engine problem I had was £1k to fix, even at a good local independent garage. I'm not so keen on the styling of the T6, preferred the T5, but I'd have one in a snap if I could afford one these days.
Note to all car builders forget the bag hooks, just put a eyelet each side. Then I can use a bungie across the pair and put my shopping in a row. I miss my old Vx for this seat, just put a hook on each side. Meaning I csn only hang two shopping bags, meaning I have to tie evey exta bag. Even worse on an estate with a falt floor for me, a live on a hill, and have to back down, so if you forget to tie the bags, you have to play the game 'catch the shopping' ad your lifting the tailgate. Luckily on my new car you can lower the floor, so there is a lip. My old laguna was a pita for this.
Bob, I'm glad I could watch the VW CARAVELLE review on your channel. Would there be a chance for you to make a review of the SEAT ALHAMBRA and MERCEDES V CLASS? It would be a great perspective on which 7-seat car to decide on. Thank you and Best regards.
Greetings from South Africa. I think these Caravelles should have a straight-forward manual transmition option as well so if someone wants to buy a caravelle but wants it as a straight-forward manual they can go for the manual transmition option.
I agree with you, Bob, vans are very comfy....... in the front anyway. The only gripe with the Caravelle is the price. The Hyundai i800 is a poorer substitute of the Caravelle. I saw a 17 plate, 15K miles for £16K. It was the 170 PS version too. If that was a Caravelle, it would have been double and it isn’t twice as good (leaving hyperbole aside).
I have a bad back (4 lower disks knackered) and I always liked the way the peddles are under your feet. Never driven a vw, but back 20 years ago, driven a loaf on transit flat backs.
All vans are good, wait until you see what the Chinese are coming with in 2019. The Hyundai i800 is a great van but that stability from the German cars rings true
@@BobFlavinVideo give the Chinese anther 5 to 10 years, and they will surpass all the current big names. The top gear special on China was very good at showing how quickly they have gone from shit, to not bad. And that must be ten years old now, as it was from the period then then 3 was still half decent. There last few years at the BBC they was poor. A time before they became a parody of themselves.
@@BobFlavinVideo cool, I'm all for compition. Though I only just got a new car in Nov, so I'm out the game for a good few years. I'll have to live my life through your lens Bob.

We have one of these at work. I love driving it and it's much more comfortable than my own car.
Fairly lively with the water bottles.

Vans have come along way in recent years and not a bad place to spend some time. Keep up the good work for 2019 👍
Will do, thanks for all the support Eric!
This would make a great long distance wagon for away games. That config in the rear, with the table is very nice.
oh god yes!
I have a 2016 galaxy and love the space it provides but this would be another level. Looks brilliant. Will have to consider the next time round.
A great looking vehicle, I'd prefer this to the stretch limousine, good leg room & great head room

The air con can be controlled separate in the rear cabin...which is back there 😂
From across the pond, have a wonderful 2019. 🎺🍺⚡🏁💰
This should be named the VW Catholic hauler. For the man with no need for contraception 😋
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHH
Guess what, they are popular here in catholic France, just like the original 7 seat Zafira & Espace, even Traffic bus.

Me too, if only Ford would provide
@@BobFlavinVideo Here's hoping they will
How many isofix is in it?
Great van, the best van always
В России эта комплектация машины называется Multivan! Комплектация Каравелла идёт с обычными съедениями в два ряда, по ходу движения!
Hello Bob , what great video mate! Is it spring already in Ireland? It looks quite warm for me ! 😉😂
Filmed a little out of of season but only because of the climate change!
Not a bad yoke for a taxi.

Can back seat fold flat as a bed?
Yes with the use of the multi flex board system you can make a full double bed.
Is this car a Multivan?
Why dont reviewers tell us how it dri es, how it rides. Before telling us how msny cupholders it has.
My dsg golf always serviced gave up ghost at 125k
BEST!
I think this is a Multivan 🤔
does it have Bluetooth???
Hey Bob, an interesting van i came across the other week really impressed me ... Toyota Alphard ... i would pick one over a VW OR MERC.
Alphards are way cooler I agree
Looks weird but I like weird things and people so I approve!
Multivan is best
Fairly lively 🤣
two horse power just passed and a jimny.. 😂
♥️🖐💖💖💖💖❤❤
7 seat? Our caravelle is 9 seated but a few years old
Trurly a great car and i can assure you , you can fit more than 7 children there and make this car purchase profitable in a day
Sport mode! nah no go on.
Well it's a mode on the dash
@@BobFlavinVideo As a van driver I could do with one of those.
That’s not a Caravelle, it’s Multivan.
