After fiddle faddling around with a different Bialetti model, we went back to this original. Whoa, what a difference! Ours was stamped 'Made in Italy' so no knock-off.
When we mean difference, the other stainless Bialetti never got all of the water out of the base for espresso. This model is engineered so well that there's no water left in the base when it's time for coffee.
This simple stove top Bialetti really is an engineering marvel. With its small footprint and simple physics (vacuum), it kind of makes all those other gigantic countertop machines look ridiculous.
For foam, we use a simple electric frother with a removable carafe that makes perfect thick and hot froth every time.
