This video was extremely helpful and comforting. I’ve had some success getting my stubborn middle-aged cat off of dry Friskies that he was eating when we took him in and onto some wet food by feeding him wet foods that contain pumpkin. He loves dry and wet treats with pumpkin and loves wet food with pumpkin. He won’t eat wet food exclusively and maybe the pumpkin is too sugary for every day consumption - I don’t know yet. A friend makes her cat food fresh from just I think canned tuna and canned pumpkin.

How high should the protein be for wet canned cat food (for cats with diabetes)? The kibble I had been giving my cat was 33% protein. I plan to have a urinalysis done for him - to see if he has diabetes or kidney disease. He's been off the kibble and is peeing less and drinking less (now that he's eating wet food), but I am going to have his urine tested to see if there's anything bad going on...
how did the tests go and how is kitty?
I heard canned cat food can cause crystals like the brand friskies? I’ve been feeding that to my cats but worry about crystals. Is there other brands of canned cat good that you recommend? Thank you for your time

My cat(9 yrs old male) used to eat dry food-Applaws-and all was fine, but it has been recalled. Since then he has been drinking too much water and urinating a lot more and his urine stinks, changed to wet food-Whiskas and he is drinking a lot less but still urinating so much more making the litter all wet. The urine analysis came back as some inflammation, don’t know the exact details but the vet said to give him chicken for a week, after 4 days he wasn’t interested anymore and I’m back to wet food-for the last 3 weeks, why is he urinating so much when he isn’t drinking much. I’d appreciate your feedback, thank you.
I switched my older cat to fancy feast and he stopped drinking tons of water and peeing incessantly. He also lost weight in going that's good since they had told me cat chow was not a good option and needed less food. He cries for food before meals though he's an orange tabby.
The volume really isn’t as bad as everyone is saying. I have hearing loss and can hear this free (free...) video of usually very expensive information just fine.
Can you recommend a canned cat food for a 15 yr old boy with diabetes with sudden onset PU/PD? I assume all cans aren’t created equally. Expensive is fine, cost is no factor.
Ok that explains it. My cat only eats dry food. I tried giving him wet food but he doesn't like it. I've gone through 5 diffrent brands of wet food and he doesn't like it.
….Mine only WANT dry food , but I give them canned moist first and put out only a little dry …i they’re gradually eating a little more each day of the moist , because it’s what’s available ….they CAN change their habits .
Dr Jones, why my 6 months old rottweiler urinate in his drinking bowl?
My car has been drinking lots of water and peeing A LOT. My vet recommended Hill’s prescription diet w/d dry food, gives her vitamin b complex injection and pain arthritis injection since she’s also walking on her entire hind legs like a bear not on her paws. Then again he says maybe pancreatitis. Sugar levels are fine. I’m confused. He did blood work and that’s what he concluded

I think Hills Science Diet for Adult 11+ yr old cats has ?high salt or something that makes cats drink a lot of water. Just adopted a 16yr old girl who was making 4 large wees per day in the box, more than both my other cats combined. When I changed her to a different kibble and increased her wet food, this stopped. Then I was worried that she wasn't peeing enough! So, added back 1 TBS Hills Science Diet crunchies and her urination has picked up again. Not sure if this is good or bad for the cat, but I know wheat and corn in the Hills Science Diet are NOT species appropriate food for cats. Anyone else experience this?

Thank you so much, doctor!! This video really helps me! My 4 years cat had the urinary problem for over 2.5 years. I just took him back from the pet hospital. The second time he got sick is because I am lazy with feed him can food. I feed him more dry food than wet food. So he blocked again. I am now going back to feed him can food only plus lots of water!! I feed him 5.5 oz can food everyday + 100-150ml water at least. Now my cat is starting to recovering but he hates me to add lots of water in his can food...I do not what should I do. As you saying in the video, it is ok to reduce some water since I feed him wet food now, is that correct. Thank you
I suggest buying Redbarns Urinary Wet Cat Food "beef" flavor 12oz can from Chewy.com it's cheaper than the prescription food and if you look at the ingredients it is SOOOO much better than many cat foods out there. My cat had crystals and hasn't had it for a long time now. I also bought a water filter for $80 and I believe filtered water helps so much. But the better option for every cat is buying raw cat food if you can afford it. You can buy raw cat food from Chewy or look up homemade recipes here on UA-cam :)
If you are getting to the point of force feeding your cat with an NG/OG and giving SQ hydration, it is time to euthanize the cat. Kidney and Liver disease is not curable. You are just delaying the inevitable. My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 16v yrs old. Even with medication, he progressed to a point where he stopped eating. NG feeds would have prolonged his life for a short period, but the kidney and liver disease would still progress. I opted to put him down and end his suffering. It seems suggesting that people spend thousands of dollars to keep an elderly cat alive seems unethical.
I have a three legged street cat I took home, he's about 1 year now problh 4 months when ingot him. He drinks and cry for water, I feed him wet food but he will drinknanytime he heads water running or cry for it. His litter box it's nothing urine. I notice his

gussy is is so talkative she reminds me of my sylvester he has passed with liver problems i trued the milk thislte on him and i froce fed him and he just threw upall the food even the smell made him sick :(
You say to discuss this with a veterinarian but most of them say they don’t know about holistic medicine so sometimes we need to make our own decisions which I do . This video I have filed.
My 15yo cat has been drinking huge volumes of water recently and has been peeing often too. With his health plan at our veterinary office, he gets a blood rest every six months. He last got a blood test three months ago, meaning his next scheduled test is in three months. My mom doesn't want to spend the extra money to get a blood test right now and wants to wait until his scheduled test in three months, but do you think it is important for him to get a blood test immediately and not wait three more months? If you think it is important that I get him tested now then I will just pay for the test myself.

I'm not a Vet but my cat Sky loves drinking water from the faucet sometimes. He used to do it all the time but I put a cup of water about a foot or two away from bedroom door and he doesn't go for the faucet as much anymore. Try that and see if that helps. I think it's normal for cats to drink from the faucet to be honest. It's like a survival trait for them in a way. If your cat was a rescue, it could remind him or her of being outside and the water dripping off of something when it rains. Try the cup of water about 2 feet away from your bedroom door and see what happens :)

My cat Misty had hyperthyroidism. However she didn't seem to want to eat. I know most cats get ravenous appetites with this condition but what is your "take" on reduced appetite and hyperthyroidism? By the way sadly she died this past summer. :(

My cat yesterday drank lots of water then peed alot maybe 6 to 8 times a day today i only gave her boild chicken at home and she drank much less but still peed maybe 5 times in the 24 hour’s she have always love drinking water and pees 4- 6 times sometimes but drinking more less should i be worried? I did her a blood test maybe a month before she was on medication because she had diarrhea back then and the blood test showed bun low and alkap also low and high blood sugar maybe 159 he said her blood test is good and the test shows low because she was sick back then and dehydrated and the sugar is high because she’s stressed I don’t know know I’m worried should i ran her another test ? Even after I switched to wet food and she didn’t drink lots of water and only peed 5 times today

Please help me. My cats legs are paralyzed. So he can not walk. But that's not the real problem. He pees so much . like he start peeing and its going on and on for hours. It's not like he pees continuously bt like he pees with a break o some minute. And when ever i try to massage his legs he pees. My bed is full of his pee. I am having so much pain for this. Please tell me if its a pee problem of his.

Hi- average is 30ml/kg/24 hours so a 10 lb cat would consume 100-150ml ( 1/2 a cup) but often in the canned food

My senior cat just got diagnosed with diabetes.. He was prescribed $100 insulin and $90 food that I can't afford. Which high protein wet food should I start him on. I really don't know where to get started.... Are there generic insulin for cats I'm really new to this
Walmart I ended up getting my dogs insulin at the pharmacy for 26.00 compared to 200.00 vet

Veterinary Secrets everything check out well . So I don't know she is 18 years old they told me she might need a Hermine imbalance so they sent her with some liquid . She just pees all the time . Awake and asleep so I don't know what else to do I had to corner her so she won't be peeing on the floor
