  • How to knit a basic cute Kawaii amigurumi Animal body with just 2 tubes on a knitting machine. You can do this with a circular knitting machine, hand knitting loom and even hand knitting circular needles! Give this project a go!
The tubes are stitched together with simple stitches and filled with crafter's polyfill toy stuffing.
Anybody can make cute kawaii animals!
I love that the pattern (recipe) can be modified to make all kinds of fun creations!
    Tools and Materials:
48 needles Circular Knitting Machine in Tube Mode (or knitting loom or size 8/9/10 hand knitting circular knitting needles)
    Clippy Stitch Markers
    Darning Needle
    Embroidery Needle
    Scissors
    #4 Worsted Yarn
I used Lion Brand Wool Ease for the light color and Lion Brand Pound of love for the main color.
    Safety Eyes or Embroidery Floss
    Poly Fill Toy Stuffing
Basic Amigurumi Animal only 2 Pieces
    Pattern & Instructions:
    Body 50 row tube
    Head 45 row tube
    Instructions:
To make Body Knit 50 rounds total (do any color changes you like within the 50 rounds)
    Stretch and Flatten the tube.
Close the ends flat (don't cinch closed)
You want a flat double layer of fabric with closed finished ends.
Fold in Half to make a long skinny rectangle.
Place a securing whip stitch in the middle of the long edge.
Stitch 5 rows out from both sides of the whip stitching to close the belly.
Fold the short end down in making 2 arms or legs.
Stitch the first set of arms /legs closed all the way to the belly seam (see video)
Use Poly Fill stuffing to fill in the legs/arms and body up the the edge of the closed tube.
Fold down to make the 2nd set of legs/arms stitch the underside of both arms/legs but stop before closing commpletely-
stuff the arms/legs and add a bit more to the body.
    Finish closing the body.
    Body is done.
    Head (45 rounds total)
Knit 25 rounds add a single drawstring with the working yarn
(tuck the draw string ends to the right side of the tube)
    Knit 20 rounds
    Cinch cast off edge closed.
Partially cinch Cast on edge then close with flat seam (this will be on the outside and visible)
Push cinched closed end of tube to the inside -
Pull the drawstring to PARTIALLY CLOSE the bottom of the head
Place Safety eyes and nose if you are using them
Use Poly Fill to stuff the inner head liner.
Use Drawstring to completely close the bottom of the head - stitch shut tightly.
    Stitch head to body securely
Shape Ears by pulling on the outer layer of the head - stitch in place.
This is where your critter gets it's personality!
Stitch Eyes and nose if you didnt use safety eyes.
    You are done!

Thank you for this tutorial. I used to sew little cats this way of fabric. But why not to do it from knitted fabric? Great idea.

What is the yarn count for a striped cat? Thanks

    • @StephanieBCreativity
      @StephanieBCreativity  Рік тому +1

Great question- I need to make a stripped cat to figure that out. I would probably do alternating colors 3 rows main color and 2 rows stripe color. For however many stripes you want - finishing with the main color.
      Thanks for watching!

What are the row counts for the small kitten please? 1/2 of all the counts?

    • @StephanieBCreativity
      @StephanieBCreativity  Рік тому +1

I just went and counted the little kitty stitches- sorry the message last night was really wrong. Thank you for watching and your question! I am sorry I haven’t made the video for the small kitten yet.
I made it on the 22 needle knitting machine tube that is 20 rows for the head and another tube that is 25 rows for the body. Assemble the same as the big kitty 🐈‍⬛.
