This great song was written by an awesome Tamil poet "Subramaniya Bharathiyar'. It seems after he lost his one and only dear mother, he had a photograph of her to remind her. He somehow lost that photo as well and he was shaken by grief. Thus this song.

பாரதிக்கு ஐந்து வயது இருக்கும் போது அவரின் அம்மா மறைந்தனர். தன் அம்மாவின் முகம் கூட பாரதிக்கு நினைவில்லை .

just a question.....this is a song written by bharathiyar expressing his grief and sorrow....but this dancer constantly smiles, as if in mirth, at times even coyly suggesting flirtation.....what is she trying to convey?

Much appreciation for the perfomance, but this song is predominantly a tragic one where the girl goes through a heart break. So intense expressions and intricate body language in the Bharatham is left void. Try to focus more on that in the next video :) nevertheless, this perfomance is nice. Cheers :)

Saurabh Kumar This is Tamil. This poem is written by Subramaniam bharathiyar who is know as Maha kavi , a great poet and social reformer . He wrote this poem when he lost his mother's picture and couldn't remember her face .
Bharathiyar is not only a MAHA KAVI he should also be recognised as MAHA DESH BHAKTA.
We lost him so early because of his APAAR DESH BHAKTI.
